I also read a review on Tripadvisor from last week where it looks like they didn't quite have parking figured out. Hopefully, they have fixed it.
Hope you have a good trip, Ukaserex!
Can I assume this said "Paytables are not great..." before your autocorrect got a hold of it? :)Quote: WizardofnothingParables are not great but if you enjoy video poker they have the best variety of machines I have ever seen
Quote: JoemanI have not been there either, but I am planning a Biloxi trip next month and may have to stop by and take a look. Their website is saying they are honoring competitors' free play coupons until the end of the year. I also thought I saw a $500 slot loss rebate promo, but I don't see it on their website any more. I wonder if they pulled it.

Re: $500 loss rebate. I saw that on their website 2 days ago, when y'all started talking about this. I don't see it now, so I called and talked to their player's club just now. The woman (Annette) says it is still in effect, and will be until Dec. 30th, as previously advertised.
The loss rebate is up to $500 in your first 24 hours. It will be rebated in 2 equal amounts on separate days later, dates of which they haven't given their reps. Mailers estimated to arrive 2 weeks after you earn the play will contain vouchers. The vouchers will be valid for a 4 week period. She did not know if they would be overlapping or even adjacent dates.
I get it - I know why. But, it just seems dirty.
Quote: ukaserexThose evil marketers. A guy loses $500 and they want him to come back twice ...I wonder why!

No more dirty than a guy losing $500 and getting sent two $50 Free Play offers...lol
Quote: GWAEYou are not an AP if you fly to a casino 3 times at $500 round trip each time to complete a $500 loss rebate.
Yeah when I heard about this, I thought, heck maybe my gf and could have drove another 5 hrs from tunica for this if we knew. But then we would have had to drive 10 hrs back twice if we lost. :-/
Those folks are definitely unprepared for the onslaught of players. Their players club had a wait of what must have been an hour or more.
I told a floor supervisor that they had to know there was going to be a crowd; wouldn't the casino do better with those people gambling instead of waiting in line for a card? She got my card for me - essentially skipping ahead of all those people. I didn't ask her to, either. I asked if we could do so online, and have them mail me a card. I guess she wanted to impress. She did, sort of, but I felt badly for all those people who were still waiting. It is nice having them match the players club tier; maybe that's why she wanted to impress - she thought I was some kind of high roller. I don't think I'd qualify for that at a casino this size.
There seems to be a good variety of video poker. I was disappointed in two things:
The pay tables for .25 and $1 JoB - competitive for the area with 5/8, but I was really hoping for a 6/8, or 5/9 or possibly a 6/9. No such luck.
The truly ridiculous thing - even at $5, 10, $25 per credit, no 6/9, the same 5/8 pay table.
I tried to explain to an attendant in the high limit area that with that pay table, given the odds, we're all better off playing quarters. There's no advantage to playing the higher coin values if the pay tables don't reflect the increase in risk. In a sense, they do, with bigger payouts, but we're risking more money.
Bah, I can't really explain it clearly, but we need a larger bank roll and have to risk a lot more money for the same pay table - that just doesn't make sense to me. Am I missing something?
I think for $5 per credit or more, Hard Rock is the place to go; at least they have 6/9. (so does IP, now that I think of it. But, I like the music better at Hard Rock)
Did you happen to check the table games selection/minimums?
My best guess - they will have a $5 min for blackjack as well as the other popular games - 3-card poker and Mississippi stud.
Bring your free play coupons for other casinos, if you have them. They may not take those that are out of the area, but they will honor the local ones. (or did I say that already?)
Are there any other details anyone else would like me to find out about?
IP nearby is now bad, talked with several regulars and no good rolls for days.
They do have some bugs to work out such as room keys not working etc, but gambling good at Scarlett Pearl. Buffet just average, and no quick sandwich shop which they need. Rooms nice with floor to ceiling windows and big walkin shower and large tv.
Staff friendly rooms friendly
But they have a major pai how issue I'm about to post a thread about
I would love to hear, and all are invited to chime in of course, interesting topic on several levels.
Thanks!
I can't quite recall all the perks - but I believe they are giving 1.5X comps - which is always helpful and welcome.
I think there was a discount also, at their gift shops.
I had actually thought about making this suggestion to the CEO of Scarlet Pearl over LinkedIn, but couldn't quite imagine the benefits for the casino. It seems like a crazy idea. May as well have a period where certain players are trying to earn their tier - and I have no doubts some people do spend a lot of money chasing those tiers.
Only they can really tell if it will be worthwhile. It could be clever, I suppose. Most slot hosts have to sign a non-compete for 1-2 years, so this way they can entice the players that game more often (or with more money) with the tier match. I don't know how effective it will be; I think you'd have to be unhappy where you were playing to make a switch.
Quote: DeMangoJust made diamond at Harrah's so I will try to reupgrade next trip!
Did go back on the 31st and missed out on $100 promo chip match from Hard Rock. Drats! But they upgraded me another tier for my diamond card at Harrah's for what it's worth. Got my first offers in the mail; two nights free and $205 promo chips weekly. Get there on a Monday and double dip on promo chips as the next week starts on Tuesday!
For those who remember the Golden Nugget early offers, this sounds a lot like it. Hugh (for Biloxi) promo chip offers that will dwindle as time passes.
I just felt the pearl had a lack of
A) spa
B) food
C) pool
D) parking
Did have a good selection of video poker but I felt the casino was poorly laid out and there was absolutely ZERO TO do there not even a real gift shop
Last time there was in a bus to IP and it was only visible in passing on the bus and across the bay from the IP.

Quote: DeMangoPicked up my mail today - they have upped the ante. January $205 in direct bets. February went to $500 weekly. Arrive Sunday and cash in Sunday, then Monday. Such a deal!
Care to guess what your coin in was when you were there to earn that?
Thus far, I haven't spent much time there because I seem to win before the first 30 minutes are up. No sense giving it back, so I leave. Just trying to gauge if the free play is rewarded at a higher rate than the IP, for example.

The business model seems to be hugh rewards for early life of the casino, to hook you. Golden Nugget did the same a few years ago. My buy ins have been $500 at craps or MS stud, so nothing spectacular.
First numbers are in and Scarlet Pearl is raising Gulf Coast gambling to highest levels in 8 years.
After reading through the first few pages of Dancer's book on VP, it seems that promotions have a lot to do with incentivizing play for the AP.
This looked like a good one at Scarlet Pearl for this upcoming month.
TABLE GAMES HOT SEAT
Fridays & Saturdays In March | 6 – 11PM
One winner will receive $100 Direct Bet every half hour. If you are sitting at the winner’s table, you will receive a $25 Direct Bet.
TBH That's VERY slim pickings. Adding it to your mail offers probably makes it worthwhile.Quote: ukaserexWasn't sure where to put this - maybe a Mod knows a better place.

Yes very few AP plays consist of beating the actual game itself.
There's a few exceptions like Full pay video poker some were up to 3%. Slot & VP Progressives, bonus slots and VP. The bulk of income comes from marketing and slot clubs nowadays.
progressives can be just as lucrative as promotions sometimes even better depending on the situation.
Please PM me the IP addresses for those slut clubs. I will not sell the addresses, I promise ;-)Quote: AxelWolfTBH That's VERY slim pickings. Adding it to your mail offers probably makes it worthwhile.

<edit> SLOT clubs, not slut clubs, my spell checker thinks it knows me, jeez.
