Im headed to the hippadrome again this weekend. Has anyone else been there? I cant find any other craps tables in London and they added the new game "shooter" a dice game. Shooter has a bigger house edge than craps but I will at least have a look, I think they added it since they have to explain how craps works to a lot of noobs and shooter is easier to understand. Anyone else been to hippadrome?

The Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square is a large (for England) casino over 4 floors. It has a small theatre, nicely priced steakhouse, a poker deck, and 3 distinctively different floors dedicated to gambling.

Craps (or Dice as they call it in all their advertising) is on the Basement level, advertised as Lola's Casino. This opens every evening at 6pm, and will have at least 1 Dice table open at this time. The 2nd table will open at either 8 or 10pm depending on how busy it gets.

Six Shooter currently only opens Thursday - Saturday at 8pm, although it is very new and not all the dealers are trained on it yet. If you show interest in playing, they may open it for you, however.

The Hippodrome is a no-brainer for casinos to visit in London. It has great food, the dealers seem to have a bit more fun with the customers, it has Craps, tables on the third floor which you can smoke at whilst you play, cheap (for London) drinks... and if you get bored of the atmosphere, go upstairs for a bit more quiet and higher minimums... or downstairs if you prefer louder music, more dimly lit, dancing girls and dice games.

Jaxxkami,

Thanks very much for the info, and welcome to the forum!

I was only at the Hippodrome once, about 4 years ago now. Found it a very comfortable and fun place to play. It was a bit disconcerting to have other people betting on my hands there, which they encourage with extra betting circles on the felt (USA generally doesn't do this), but it didn't seem to be an issue. I had thought it might be, people reaching for money that wasn't theirs or something, but I didn't see any of that.

Agree the food was quite good . They served it tableside if you wanted it there, another surprise. They just brought little tables. Tried it once, but the place seemed too crowded to want to have them do that, so didn't do it again.

I thought the games were pretty good. Most seemed to have better paytables than their American counterparts. I think the central British game controlling agency pushes better odds, but while I learned something about it at the time, I don't recall how it worked.

Anyway, I would definitely recommend them if gambling in London.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

They have a very interesting website: Their poker operation was at one point owned by a Canadian company but I don't know what the current status is.
