Anyone play around St Louis? I know that there are several casinos but they seem to be somewhat spread out. I'm going to be in town in a couple of weeks and I'm wondering which casino I should visit. Kinda leaning toward Hollywood but that's not definite. Looking for lower minimum table games and decent .25 VP. I'd love to hear from anyone who plays in the area.

Hollywood is the place to play low stakes video poker in St Louis. Ameristar, River City, and Lumiere are much nicer places to play.

Hollywood has a 99.66 JOB game which is labeled bonus poker, but it's a job pay table that pays 175 for 4oak with 8/6... Unusual game... Hollywood does comps + free play.

Ameristar has a row of 0.25 JOB games... Bonus and bonus deuces are options too... Comps or free play.

At River City and Lumiere you'll need to play dollars to get over 99%. Video poker doesn't work with the big point multiplier days at Lumiere.

I think Hollywood does a 100% loss rebate up to $500 on new cards day one. I have no idea how soon that is delivered. You'll have to ask the players club.

Now if you go up to Alton IL, which is about an hour north of St Louis, they have one casino I've not been to in years so I can't speak to the games... But there is a cool bar called fast Eddie's there which is worth a visit. Also, if you are a golfer Alton has a Arnold Palmer designed municipal course that is incredibly reasonable and worth twice the green fees they charge.

Illinois just started putting video poker and line games in a bunch of their bars and gas stations. I've not taken the time to scout them. If you go there, let me know what you find please.

How'd the STL trip go?

FYI - Hollywood just downgraded the payable on their triple bonus plus game. Not sure about super double bonus. The 99.66 jacks game is still there though.

It went well. Didn't get to play as much as I had hoped to. Ended up winning a little thanks to two good hits on UX machines left with multipliers. If I could make myself leave craps alone I might actually win some $$$$ on one of these trips!!

After the whole Ferguson thing and being in the top 3 most dangerous cities in the country (and a few times made the list for world), a lot of people have been moving out.

I'm on that list. The best thing about living there was the casinos. Traffic wasn't awful either.

Cardinals fans are the worst (you excluded). The best fans in baseball crap is so sanctimonious.

I would agree that the word "best" might be a bit of an exaggeration, but why pray tell would you call them the worst?

Obviously I'm painting a broad brush. But I've had otherwise rational, intelligent people tell me that Cardinal fans are known throughout baseball as being smarter and more passionate than other team's fans.

They call themselves the "Best fans in baseball"

Do any other team's fans do that? Check out the "Best fans in baseball" twitter for other examples.

St. Louis is the only team I can think of for which the NFL made a corporate decision to strip them of an NFL franchise (as opposed to an owner just deciding to move his team.) That was 2 years ago, I believe. St. Louis Rams RIP.

From 1903-1953, Major League Baseball had 16 teams in 10 cities - St. Louis was one of those 10 cities and it had 2 teams. The St Louis Browns left in 1954 and became the Baltimore Orioles.
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

I tend to call most Cardinals fans "smug". When opening day hits, or we are in the hunt/make the playoffs, I cringe at Facebook. I'm a fair weather Cards fan at best. Went to WS Game 1 in 2011 on a snap decision. Never doing one of those again (but cool to do once). But it's too much money, and getting worse annually as we only paid $225/ea for upper deck. Went to my first game at Busch in over 3 years on Tuesday as g/f is a White Sox fan and we got a good deal on tickets ($5 upper deck tickets with $5 food/drink credit). The concessions, however, are horribly priced. Would rather go back to KC or Chicago to see a game.
