Just received an email that CET sold Horseshoe Cleveland, Thistle, and Cincy to Rock Gaming. Here is a copy of the email that I received. Who is Rock Gaming? Is this another spinoff of CET. If you go to their website it lists a few other casinos including Baltimore.

Dear GWAE,

We are writing to inform you of an upcoming change to the management of Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati and ThistleDown Racino. In mid-2016, Rock Gaming LLC and its affiliates ("Rock Gaming"), which currently own Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati and ThistleDown Racino, will assume the management responsibility of these properties. These three properties are currently managed by subsidiaries of Caesars Entertainment Operating Company, Inc. ("Caesars Entertainment").

Caesars Entertainment and Rock Gaming are working together to ensure a seamless transition and our goal is to keep you fully informed throughout the coming months. We will be sharing more information with you shortly, but below are a few aspects of the transition we would like to clarify up front:

Your Total Rewards® Tier Status, Tier Credits and Reward Credits WILL REMAIN INTACT and will continue to be valid at Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati and ThistleDown Racino until the time of the transition (see below), as well as at all Caesars Entertainment properties outside of Ohio going forward.

In addition to keeping your current Total Rewards® benefits, YOU WILL ALSO be granted equivalent Tier Status, Tier Credits and Reward Credits in a new Rock Gaming Loyalty Program, which will be valid at Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati and ThistleDown Racino after the transition.

This means you will keep your Total Rewards® benefits AND you will be receiving additional equivalent benefits in a new program, which will be announced shortly.

You can continue to earn points, comps and additional perks as usual until the time of transition - equivalent points, comps and tier status held at the time of transition will be granted in the new loyalty program.

All marketing offers from Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati and ThistleDown Racino will continue to be valid.

Rest assured that you will continue to enjoy a quality experience at Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati and ThistleDown Racino. The team members you have come to know and rely upon will remain with the properties and will continue to be a part of your Ohio gaming experience for years to come.

Please visit http://www.rock-gaming.com/guestinformation to receive up-to-date information regarding the transition, to view frequently asked questions or to contact us. Look out for more announcements and information related to this transition coming soon.

If you go to this website.
http://www.rock-gaming.com/

on the bottom left there are press releases. Some more info is provided there (edited so I don't look grammatically challenged) .

Not that I get to Cleveland all that often but it has served me as a close place to go to keep my RCs active.

Well, it appears that's the part that's going to change. There are a lot of properties in the CET family that are owned elsewhere but CET runs them as part of their chain. Looks like those 3 (I've never heard of Thistle Down) are severing the CET relationship for whatever reason. JMHO based on what you provided. Might even be Rock whoever initiating the split, maybe firing CET as their managers; who knows.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

damn it, I can not believe that I used their incorrectly. Let me chop that up to auto correct. Isn't that the politically correct thing to blame it on?

Not sure I'm reading it correctly but sounds like Rock Gaming will match the Rewards Credits from Total Rewards in their new Players Club. That would be a bonus. Of course CET is pretty stingy with Reward Credits to begin with ;-)

In previous take overs this has happened as well. Tringlomane I believe can attest to this. Whenever one company takes over another they usually mail really well for a little while and transfer the points over. I am not sure how they do it exactly?

Does anyone know for sure. I have 100k points between 2 cards. If I play at Cleveland this month, would the new place end up giving me 100k as well?

I can't guarantee it will happen to you exactly the same way (but sounds like it in the email), but I would try to hoard your RCs if possible (while keeping them active of course), because when Hollywood took over Harrah's in STL, I got my balance at the rough takeover date matched by them.

The new place will likely give you your RC amount when the transition is near completion in 2016. If you play next month and then spend 50k of your 100k, then you'll likely just get 50k matched.

As for mailers dunno how much more generous they'll be. Unlikely to be less. But if you get stuff from Cleveland currently, I wouldn't low/no play them next month.

One problem with using RCs at Cleveland is that they have very few places to use them. They have no spa, entertainment and only a buffet and 3 food court outlets. To keep a LV whale with a $1m in RC from crushing them, I can see them placing a cap on RCs transferred and/or no transferring RCs into free slot play.

To me the big issue is which hotels will Rock Casino affiliate with, currently I stay at the Ritz which I think is part of the parent company so hopefully they will still offer comp rooms.

I was planning on not visiting Cleveland very much in mid 2016 because of the Republican Convention being held in mid July, so now I will have to see how the dates of the switch over coincide with the Convention.

Rock Gaming is owned by Dan Gilbert (Quicken Loans, Cleveland Cavaliers owner) who also owns Greektown here in Detroit. So far no mention if GT will become a part of RG...yet.

On RGs website they do list Greektown along with a few other places. Not sure if they are all going to end up under 1 players card system or will remain individual.

If I was advising the casino I would tell them to match the unused percentage of points that you accumulated at those three properties. I would not match the points earned at other casinos.

That is exactly what I would do. That is why I had posed the question, if anyone knew what normally happened.

Penn Gaming definitely did NOT do that for St. Louis. I'm not sure if that was out of generosity, or CET systems wouldn't make it clear that what credits where earned/used where. I would assume the latter info would be available, however, it might be more difficult to ascertain and transfer than just to "garbage in/garbage out" the total remaining balance.

I wonder what the long term strategy of Rock Gaming LLC is.

For example, does Dan Gilbert envision building his own Casino Empire by picking up misc CET properties in the future at fire-sale prices ? Does RG LLC need to fully disassociated with CET in order to do that ?

I thought it was a good corporate match in the beginning for them to be associated with the CET rewards program.

Has anyone been to Jack yet? When they announced the sale they said they were going to convert points. We both received our packets in the mail and today I finally logged into online account. We have 64,000 points. I am wondering if those can be converted to free play or if it is just a tier point that means nothing? Any ideas?

I've been Jack. I cleared out all my CET points down to zero before the switch. They put me at the "King" level card. (Highest level - goes J-A-C-K). Not sure what that gets me but I do earn comps at 3x the normal rate. Played $10 UTH for 1.75 hours and earned $12 in comps, which was nice. $3=$1 in Free Play.

The Diamond Lounge is now called The Library but it is literally exactly the same otherwise.

Really nothing has changed except they got rid of all the Horseshoe Stuff and went to 10x odds (from 100x) on craps.

So this is an indication of where they are headed ? Then I'm glad that Spirit and Frontier are both flying from that market to Las Wages.

I believe they have also increased the amount of play time required to earn free parking in the garage. Not a huge deal if you're going to be there awhile, but just one of those little signs that JACK is not planning on bringing more people in by offering better perks and better games, paytables, etc. compared to Horseshoe... which wasn't terribly great to start with.

When we went last week people were so angry about that. There was a guy helping people at the kiosks and he was getting an ear beating. I felt bad for him but he handled it well.

Free parking is now 1000 points or I believe 30 minutes at a table. Pointon slots are 3 points per dollar so it's only 333 coin in. If someone doesn't do that in a visit then the casino probably wants their parking fee.

The lowest J tier level requires an hour of table play, as opposed to the Horseshoe which was 30 minutes for the low TR card holders, in order to earn the free parking.

Little things like this plus the loss of the nationally-based total rewards can't be good for that place.

Makes me gag, except maybe the tables, that's not as bad depending on how/what the person is playing. But, slots, come on! With $200 coin-in on slots (mostly low denomination, I'm sure) they got their parking fee, nearly $20 in theoretical. Really small players still eat in casinos and maybe do other stuff, I think casinos may find that micro-fleas add up into a whale or two when they're miffed and not coming to your property anymore.

I checked it out recently. My Diamond TR status was valid for a "C" in J-A-C-K levels, which is good for free parking, no minimum play time required. If you've been to Horseshoe CLE, then you've seen JACK.
