This June I will be in the Philadelphia area for 3 days, followed by a trip to the Hartford area for 2 days. I'll then have a car, and probably 5 more days to explore the Northeast and its fine establishments.

My wife will be accompanying me on my trip, and she would like to go to at least one casino with Bingo, otherwise she prefers pai gow poker. Since she will be with me, we will probably want to be staying at resort-style casinos, or at least casinos with nicer rooms.

Laundry List of Questions about the northeast:

> Is Atlantic City worth a visit? What other things are there to do apart from the casinos?
> If I could only visit one casino in CT, which one would you recommend?
> Any PA casinos worth a visit?
> What are some must-hit restaurants or attractions?
> What else would you recommend two Midwesterners to do while in the Northeast?

1. AC in June is nice. You've got the beach. You might have Revel's Giant Waterpark by then.

2. Foxwoods

3. Sugar House, Parx, Sands

4. I dunno, Liberty Bell or some shit?

5. Have you been to New York City?

Never been to NYC. We are going to try and see Book of Mormon on Broadway.

Book of Mormon is great. It's an expensive ticket though. You'd have to get them on the secondary market.

NYC is a must-see. So much do to. I'd recommend just sticking to a few things instead of trying to see the whole city in one trip.

What do you mean by secondary market? Looks like they run about $200 per ticket through the website, with a bunch of availability 3 months out.

Nice. Guess demand is down since I went last year. Had no idea they weren't sold out.

Get the Book or Mormon tickets ASAP before they are sold out

If there is one place I'd to in June in the northeast for casinos, it is AC. Even with all their problems, the boardwalk in the summer is nice and the ability to walk from one casino to another tops any other single casino in the northeast. It doesn't compare to walking the strip in Vegas, or even downtown Vegas, but better than any other Northeast locations

The Connecticut casinos are 10 miles apart. It's a nice 15 minute ride. What are you interested in? Boston is nice and less than two hours.

Pretty broad interests - restaurants, shows, stuff that I can't do in any other city.

Don't listen to the recommendation for Boston. That's not even a real city.

Also, do any NE casinos have shows similar to the Cirque shows in Vegas? Again, pretty broad interests apart from live music.

It's a totally different experience from what you are looking for, but a trip to 9/11 memorial in lower Manhattan, which we just did this weekend, was unbelievable, in a sad and sobering way. If you lived through it, wherever you were, it is an amazing place. All of the memories you might have of watching from afar are brought back when you see artifacts they have on display. The guidebooks say to allot a couple of hours, but we spent four hours and could have spent more.

Well it looks like the wife can't get time off work, so I think this just turned into a solo poker trip. I'll be in Hartford, CT for Mon/Tues, then have the rest of the week to do whatever. I'm thinking of just going straight to AC and checking out the cardrooms there. Is AC the best poker in the northeast?

Borgata and Parx are about an hour away from each other. Borgata's room is by far the nicest on the East Coast. Parx is a shithole, but has good action. Foxwoods is also a very good room.

Borgata used to be #1 in the East by far, but that's really only true on weekends and in the summer now. During the winter mid-week, I'd take Foxwoods. If you're going in June, than Borgata is the obvious answer.

Borgata, Foxwoods, and Parx are really the only poker rooms worth visiting in the Northeast.

I appreciate the input! I'll try and hit all three, they all seem to have great poker rooms.

If you are an experienced poker player, Mohegan Sun can be a good place to play. Lots of guys in their 20s who think they know what they are doing but really don't and are mostly there for the clubs and nightlife and free booze. It's a small poker room, so easier to scout tables for a potentially good seat.

Will parrot others that AC in warmer months is very nice, gambling or not. People watching on the boardwalk can be extremely entertaining.
