Thousands Rush to Harrah’s Northern California Casino for Soft Opening. http://bit.ly/2UPdL51
* A new Amador County casino filled up to capacity in a matter of hours Monday.
Harrah’s Northern California Casino south of Ione had its soft opening and thousands showed up -- more than the casino could allow in safely. That forced the casino and the California Highway Patrol to turn away hundreds.
When cars reached the turn to Coal Mine Road, where the casino is located, CHP officers wouldn’t let drivers through.
"They didn’t think anything out," said Ione resident Noel Stewart. "People are backed up all the way to 88, maybe even into Ione." http://bit.ly/2UPdL51

The place is an hour away from Sacramento. Are people coming all the way from there?

It's also only 17 miles from Jackson Rancheria.
Here's something strange; the website says it offers roulette - but the most recent tribal compact expressly forbids any sort of roulette, including E-roulette and "card roulette."

They have Mystery Card Roulette.
I tried to be there for the opening, but I got turned away an hour before the scheduled time because they were full. Went back a bit before midnight and it was still busy but I was able to get in. It is small but decently nice.
I was surprised so many people would show up on a Monday afternoon.
