Trivago search shows Showboat, Sheraton, The Claridge, on and on. Would you consider any, have you stayed in any, pros, cons, stayed in nearby towns, etc. Are they safe? Remember jokes about the Taffy, etc. about them not being or too rundown.
I don't know how others feel, but once I get to the city, I'm willing to do anything to not drive even though I don't drink. I just don't want to deal with parking garages, strange roads, traffic, accidents. I'm probably more apt if I were to choose one of these places, to choose a boardwalk spot to leave walking on the boardwalk an option to casino hop. Most of them are

Anyways, we stayed a very disturbing best western I believe that was on the road behind the boardwalk. We ended up with this corner room that faced an alley. We walked through the hallway which seemed decent, then daw the sign for our set up rooms. Walked through a door on the 2nd level and now we were outside on a balcony like a typical motel would look. Got to our room which was last in the hallway that just ended. Our door was opened. I slowly peaked in, checked bathroom, closet, and under bed. Moved the table in frontmof the door and locked it. Out the window there was am alley that had, and I shit you not, a neon sign that was blinking. This room was right out of a horror movie.
Our next 2 trips we stayed in Absecon about 10 or 15 minutes away. We were able to get decent weekend rooms in the summer for under $200. Can't remember the exact price but it had to be well under 200 for my broke ass to pony up for it.
Quote: onenickelmiracleOh that is scary and funny. I've heard people mention Abescon and I think Egg Harbor to stay. Yeah seriously I have trouble even thinking about over $100 for a night. $3000/mo. mortgage/rent would be a pretty nice place they're not giving. At those rates $460/night I always wonder if whole floors are empty and they're acting like 1 room left. I really really have trouble believing it because they would be putting up new towers if it were true they're selling. Nobody has since 2009-2010 and whole casinos are folding along with the hotels.
That is very possible. I don't know the inner workings of hotels. My wife gets mad at restaurants that look empty but there is a wait. I try to explain to her that if they filled all the tables.but don't have the staff to accomodate them then you will have horrible service. I wonder if hotels work similarly. If they put you on a floor that is empty it will cost them too much to service you.
It doesn't get the best reviews, but we like it. It's not the nicest place (it was recently updated, but still seems old in some aspects), but we've never had any issues. There is nothing within walking distance, but a short drive in either direction puts you near restaurants.
Thanks for replying. When I stayed at Harrah's in the marina tower, the rooms were not in the best shape either. I'll have to try one of these places if comped rooms aren't available on a weekend. The booking sites rank them on things which might be unnecessary and not necessarily on quality and I forgot. All I want is clean, quiet, and safe, and I think I would get that. Walking off the elevator to the casino is nice, but not worth $100-200.Quote: pens4821If we come to town on Saturday, we stay at the Comfort Inn in Absecon. It's on Absecon Blvd, but it's at the end of the town, so it's only about a 10 maybe 15 minute drive to Resorts. It's not as nice as being right there, but it's a quick/easy drive and can save hundreds. We've found that if you book about 4, more if summer, months in advance (do the free cancellation one just in case you need to change plans) you can get it for under $100 on a Saturday. It's also on Groupon quite often for a deal. I would NEVER spend the money they ask for in AC on the weekend.

The one bad thing if I don't drive, the cabs will be more than $13 leaving the city, but uber is in town, so that might work.
Never again. I don't remember exactly where the motel was, I'm sure it was a little bit up the AC Expressway, like Pleasantville. It wasn't in AC near the boardwalk.
