Why should Atlantic City be saved. Is it more important to bring in the maximum revenue and jobs into the state. The only stipulation I would make is if casino gambling is expanded to the Meadowlands then those in Atlantic City who lost jobs being given first crack at the new casinos.

It's a given. They're just playing politically correct games with AC for now. North Jersey will have casinos.
BTW, how did that 5 year "tourist zone" thing work out for AC and NJ?

Would you relocate to northern NJ where the cost of living is much higher, probably be paid minimum wage or close to it and most likely be hired part time (19 hours a week) with no benefits...

Its not just the casino workers in AC that get hurt, but also all the workers of the local suppliers who the casinos support. However job relocation has been happening for decades, and I would expect that the northern NJ casinos would want to hire good experienced casino workers.

It's not up to the politicians to make this change as it will require a constitutional amendment and will be decided by the voters of the State. After the people see what happened in AC who knows how that vote will go.

Jersey within 5 years?
" A 1897 referendum which amended the state constitution to ban all gambling, all new gaming law in New Jersey requires statewide voter approval"
"New Jersey's constitution requires lawmakers wait two years before another attempt if a majority of voters do not approve an amendment"
If No. NJ gambling does not get state approval this round, I agree about that 5 year thing.
I'm sure when this referendum was written in1897 things were a bit different....ya think?
