my goodness, where did you hear that?
what's the closing date?
last i heard they had filed for bankruptcy and the place was up and running and fully operational and they were searching for a buyer. i stayed there recently, i played there recently; nobody said nuthin' about closing. please share your source; inquiring minds want to know!
wow. what a sudden turn of events.
they're closing?
my goodness, i would think the press of AC would cover a story such as that"
Using this guy as their corporate communications director from the start is only one of many errors they made. As posted above, he may get the honor of being the last one to turn the lights out.
His simple statement above just repeats all of the arrogance Revel showed from Day 1 and is a huge reason why they failed.
Why does everyone think he gets compensated? Maybe he just really likes the place.

Did he "like" the place before it opened? He has been a pitchman, along the lines of Comical Ali in Iraq, since before they opened. No one can spread blatent lies again and again without compensation. Also he posted so much corporate speak over the years that he was given by his good friend Kevin DeSanctis, again he is either a fool or paid.

I am not saying that he is not, I was just wondering if he actually does work for them or if it was just a theory.
Quote: GWAEDoes anyone know if any of the AC casinos do a match to CET platinum cards? I know B does one to the diamond.
I do not believe any do. As you probably know, the Platnium card is worth much more in Vegas than in AC. In AC there is not many benefits to a Platnium as at one time everyone had one. Even Diamonds are still everywhere in AC, as you can see if you look outside the Diamond Lounge on a Tuesday at 2PM to see the line wrapping about slots to get in. And since they require 25K in points to get in for free, there obviously is still a lot around.

All a platinum really does in AC is give you free parking, a shorter line to check into hotels, and a slight increase in discounts for the gift shop.

yeah I figured it got you nothing. The only reason we have platinum is because we have the total rewards credit card. I have 0 tier points in the last 2 years. We have approx 180,000 rewards credits right now thanks to the credit card and the last 2 race to rewards promos. We plan on using most of them next month before CET devalues them anymore.
The Donald has not controlled the casinos with his name for years. Credit Suisse has been the major factor. But even before the Donald was pushed out for incompetence, he ran the place into the ground. He was so chintzy that they did not even have enough vacuum cleaners to clean the occupied hotel rooms daily, as the CCC licensing hearings brought out.Quote: NokTangIf so, Mr. Trump has been all over FOX News telling us all how he knows everything about business, foreign affairs, buying golf courses, dealing with people and "I can borrow from any bank". It would not be a good PR move to close a property with his name on it.

Thanks for sharing the perk which is unknown to me. Wow, it's good to know the power of total rewards credit card. Your 180,000 rewards credits are equal to $1,800 comp dollars! Oh sh*t! I shredded the offer for a total rewards credit card. I regret it big time!

"Don't Hail Caesars Yet For Its Asia Breakthrough In Korea"
"Caesars Entertainment missed out on the Asia boom and has paid a heavy price. The company, whose flagship Caesars Palace became synonymous with Las Vegas decadent luxury, has been surpassed by Strip rivals that got Macau licenses and is even seeing its home turf invaded by Malaysia’s Genting Group, funded by its Singapore cash cow, Resorts World Sentosa...
For more than a decade, Caesars and its corporate predecessors have been trying to break into the Asian gaming market. When Macau offered licenses in 2001, Caesars (then using the corporate name Park Place) partnered with Strip rival Mandalay Bay on a bid. Macau’s government brushed aside the recommendation of its consultant, which ranked the Caesars bid among top three, to choose the partnership of Galaxy Entertainment Group and Las Vegas Sands, whose owners have become billionaires. Harrah’s, which took over Caesars in 2005 and took its name in 2010, didn’t even submit a proposal, then passed on the chance for a Macau subconcession in 2006. “A big mistake,” then Harrah’s and now Caesars CEO Gary Loveman has admitted repeatedly since. (Far less costly mistakes have cost careers.)...
Then Caesars got desperate. In 2007, it paid $577 million for a Macau golf course at the south end of Cotai. (A year earlier, Melco Crown paid $900 million to buy its Macau gaming license.) Although Caesars claimed it wanted to build its brand in Macau through golf, and land is the most valuable commodity in Macau – though they are making more of it – the real hope was that the government would allow it to replace the golf course with a casino resort. The government stood firm that the land could not be converted and backed that up with a moratorium on new casino proposals. Last year, Caesars sold the plot at a net loss of about $150 million, another potential career-ender that Loveman survived.Between buying and selling the golf course, Caesars was taken private in a leveraged buyout and went public again in 2012. The company is saddled with some $20 billion in debt. South Korea’s government reportedly initially turned down Caesar’s development proposal due to concerns about that debt. Caesars’ troubles are hardly all behind it; company losses over the past two reported quarters have exceeded $2.1 billion..."
and now Loveman targets Korea?:
"Until South Korea allows its citizens broader casino access, experts say developers can’t justify investing multi-billion dollar integrated resort (IR) properties that would drive new gaming oriented tourism with wow factors found in Singapore or Macau. A Union Gaming Research Macau analysis of Genting’s Jeju project says that a $2.2 billion resort can’t succeed without Korean players. The same logic applies to Caesars in Incheon and a gaming resort development closer to the airport spearheaded by Korean casino operator Paradise Group with Japanese gaming machine manufacturer Sega Sammy.
With a population of 50 million and a per capita GDP in the world’s top 15, South Korea tempts the biggest names in gaming. Unfortunately, those 50 million Koreas and their trillion dollar economy are not permitted to enter 16 of the country’s 17 casinos. The exception is Kangwon Land, located in a derelict mining region a harrowing three and a half hour drive from Seoul. Even there, steps to control problem gambling include restrictions on the number and duration of visits. Kangwon Land recorded gross gaming revenue of $1.25 billion last year, more than the 16 foreigner only casinos combined. Koreans are the biggest foreign revenue source for Philippine casinos, currently the closest major gaming destination, with a flight time from Seoul about as long as the trip to Kangwon Land."

I could certainly spare a few to ship in your direction, since judging by some of the other people I know whose mail & inboxes have also been choking on the flood of them I don't think they're any too picky about who actually responds to take one. "Over 1,000 employees of Trump Plaza will receive their Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) letters today as the casino moves forward with its plans to close in September. However, there could be some hope to save the casino and for Atlantic City’s future.
Longtime Atlantic City talk show host Harry Hurley, a former Trump executive, says there is a “very interested buyer” for the property from a foreign company that wants to keep it operating as a hotel and casino. It is not known if they would maintain the “Trump” name.
Hurley also reports that MGM is interested in getting back into the casino business and will re-apply for its Atlantic City gaming license. In 2007, the company announced plans to build the $5 billion, multi-tower, 3.000 room MGM Mirage resort and casino that would include a 1,500 seat theater, retail and convention space adjacent to the Borgata.
The project ground to a halt in 2008, however, after the company’s earnings plunged during its third quarter. In 2010 MGM attemtped to leave New Jersey completely, putting its 50 percent share in the Borgata up for sale after the company’s relationship with Pansy Ho, their partner in the Chinese gambling resort of Macau, came under question. Pansy Ho was believed to have connections to Asian organized crime gangs at the time.
However, after there were no takers for the share, the company in 2013 applied to New Jersey Casino Control Commission to keep its stake and reconsider its status in order to “once again be an active, contributing member of the New Jersey gaming marketplace through our 50 percent ownership of Borgata.” A decision has yet to be announced.

Gaming revenue in Atlantic City was stagnant last month compared with June 2013, according to newly released data from state regulators, as the resort town copes with news that yet another casino could close its doors by the fall.
For the 11 casinos that were open in both June 2013 and June 2014, slot machine and table game winnings decreased 0.3 percent year-over-year, according to the Division of Gaming Enforcement. When including the Atlantic Club, which closed in January, casino win fell 5.7 percent compared with a year ago.

4.7 million is just pathetic for the Trump. I can not believe that they didn't just say F it and lock the doors.
There are several ways to increase ridership and revenue on the Atlantic City Rail Line, according to a study commissioned by NJ Transit, but the agency doesn't plan to do any of them.
With NJ Transit strapped for money and Atlantic City losing casinos, visitors and employees, the transit agency has shelved the recommendations of a study that was authorized in 2009 by the Corzine administration.
"NJ Transit does not have any immediate plans to begin action on any of the proposals in the analysis," NJ Transit spokesman William J. Smith said in an e-mail.
Smith released the executive summary of the Atlantic City Rail Operations Study that was commissioned for $735,000. The study was prepared by LTK Engineering Services.

Atlantic City Rail Line Operations Study
The Atlantic City Line, operating between Philadelphia and Atlantic City, is the least-traveled of NJT's rail lines, averaging about 3,450 riders per weekday. Part of the reason, rail planners say, is infrequent service.
Only 12 trains operate in each direction daily now, with passengers required to wait as long as 2-1/2 hours between trains at midday.
The LTK study considered six scenarios for increasing service and revenue, including the possibility of adding a station at the Woodcrest PATCO station in Cherry Hill and another by the Atlantic City International Airport.
Ridership could be increased to 10,860 passengers per day by 2035, if those stations were added and hourly train service was offered in each direction between Atlantic City and Philadelphia, the study said.
Building a station at Woodcrest would cost about $7.5 million, and a station near the airport would cost about $28 million, the study said.
To build the two stations and buy the locomotives and cars necessary for hourly service would cost about $145 million, the study said.
It would cost $33 million a year to operate that service, and fares would cover about $12 million, or 37 percent, of the cost, LTK estimated.
That compares to the current operating cost of $23 million a year, with fares covering 22 percent of the cost
