Story by Reuters. It's evidently a rare event but junket operators and triads seem to be "the usual suspects".

From the sign: 娱乐场 = "casino", literally, "entertainment happy market".

If it wasn't a murder, you would have had a hard time ever finding out about it. There were rumors of swat teams at a local casino, with drug busts and prostitution, I have been trying to find news about it, but can't. A friend of mine was on the floor and saw it, internet searches are useless.

Based on the slim info released, that's where I'd place my money (although "drug deal gone bad", "madam robs john", and "slept with wrong man's wife" would be long shot side bets.

For those of you who have actually been to Macau, what should the average visitor expect in terms of crime assuming you only go to the airport, nice casinos and some touristy bay locations?

Also...

As an American, how are Americans treated? Are they happily welcomed since they usually have money? Are they singled out as marks since they usually have money? Are they pestered by government officials due to the current political climate? I'd love to go, but not if it's dangerous. (I'd just say I'll stick to the safety of Vegas but now that Sin City boasts the country's biggest mass killing it's a tough sell.)

[Note: I came across a few other interesting bits of Macau news. I'd like to post them exclusively at WoM but evidently the site uses the Asian forum here so apologies in advance to those bored by such posts.]

I would go with "Trick-Roll Gone Bad". Stabbing is a pretty inconsistent and messy method for a professional hit.
