Just returned from an 8 day Carnival Cruise, also stopped at a casino in St Maarten and one at St Thomas, so thought I would pass along gambling info from those since there isnt a lot of recent info for those places
First St Maarten. We accidentally found this place in the downtown area just off the port in St Maarten. Pretty small place, had roulette, blackjack and caribbean stud as table games in addition to slots (mainly newer). The Caribbean Stud was a variation I had not seen as it allowed you to pay your ante and receive an additional card. Table minimums were $5, plus $1 for the progressive bet (although not progressive, just set paytable). Hit a flush third hand and cashed out up a little, so only spent maybe 30 minutes there.
St Thomas, we found a small one near the port called Winner's Circle. I think there was an upstairs but we didnt go up. Pretty small place had an electronic roulette table and lots of older "slots" including the 8 line machines.
As for carnival, where we spent most of our time. Table minimums on everything was $5 except for blackjack which was 6. They had triple 0 roulette, craps, Superfun 21 blackjack with lucky ladies or buster side bets, Heads up Holdem (basically ultimate texas holdem with the pocket card sidebet), let it ride and three card poker with the prime bet. Slots were unbelievably tight it seemed like. There were lots of big hits, but it was pretty much an all or nothing play. Free drinks while in the casino once you reached 1500 pts ($2 coin in = 1 pt) or you could qualify with table play - not sure how they figured it but some of the table game only players said they were getting free drinks on the second day. They also had the push coin machines - you can make money on these, but unfortunately there were others that knew how, so didnt really play them at all.

St. Maarten is my favorite Caribbean island, I try to get there at least once per year. I prefer the French side but they don't have gambling.

Hello MT:
I have had a bunch of great offers come into my e-mail from Carnival this year. Basically some small amount for the cruise which I get back in on-board credit, plus free drinks while playing in the Casino.
So, my suggestion is to keep an eye on your e-mail if you are considering another cruise at some point. Hard to say when these offers will dry up.

There's emptiness behind their eyes
There's dust in all their hearts
They just want to steal us all and take us all apart

I have been to St Maarten probably 15 times and I have never gambled a single $1. I have visited many of the casinos but never had the urge to play.

Do you know what happened to the casino across from Princess Casino?
It's closed while other more dinky casinos in that area are open.

I have no idea. I spend very little time on the Dutch side of the island. Other than the airport I probably only spend 1 hour a week in Philipsburg.

Jump Up casino:
Hand pay at $500. (Unless I misunderstood?)
Saw sign at cage saying max cash out is $200.
I wonder what happens when you have a $300 win? Only give you $200?

I will be in St. Martin next month for ten days of beach time. Probably my favorite vacation spot.
