What is the ratio you should play on the 'trips' bet vs. your ante bet?

How do you define "should?" The trips bet has a house edge. You're likely to lose more money by playing that bet. So maybe you shouldn't bet it at all. If you think it's fun to play, then bet whatever your bankroll can handle.

The trips bet is paid completely independently from the ante bet, with its own house edge. The most common pay table for Trips has a house edge of about 3.5%. The trips bet, paying 3OAK or higher, hits at a slightly better than 15% rate, or about 1 in 7 hands. The lowest pay is 3 to 1, so personally, I play it at 1/2 the value of my ante bet at a $10 table (if allowed; they may have a $10 min on the bet though it's usually $5). If my ante/play wins are running about even with the house, that pays for the trips bet most of the time. If I'm running well overall, I'll bet $15 ante but keep the trips at 1/3 of that. (Since I play very aggressive strategy, $15 ante = outlay on average of about $65/hand, which is more than enough for me, before the Trips bet. JMHO as someone who plays the sidebet; a lot of folks on here won't bet any sidebet, and mathematically they're right, but I like the variance on this one.

You would find some good info on the game and the sidebet on WizardofOdds , the sister site to this one.

In A.C. at Bally's you can play the trips bet for as little as $1. The house edge on the paytable is 1.9%. A pretty fun bet to make for a couple bucks.
