Impatient about getting a Bonus game

my local casino put in new penny slot machines in front of the poker room.
they looked fun so I've been playing them while waiting for a seat at the poker table.

I found myself pressing the button if there isn't a bonus symbol on columns 1 or 2 to quickly finish the spin and move on to the next hand.
I didn't care about the few cents i won, if any.

that's like in 10play vp where you immediately press the button after hitting the draw to near instantly reveal the results instead of the game doing it one by one.
when I first saw this years ago, I thought that's sad.
stop being impatient and enjoy the game.

I never thought I would become one of those people.

I know there is no fiendish fatal plot in the placement of slot machines and that various maintenance and crowd control factors keep things changing as well as new experiments and retirement of some machines. However, I would certainly doubt that "good" machines are ever going to be, much less start out at, any captive or semi-captive marketing point,. In or near a Bingo room is not likely to be some grand and glorious machine that keeps disgorging money. In or near a poker room would be a similarly poor marketing place for starting out a machine. Now if the 'slot machine dance' changes things later, that might be a possibility but I'd not hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

Impatience is not good in a gambling situation. Becoming impatient with the dealer, the dice, the shooter, the other blackjack players, the little white ball, etc. is a sure way to lose your concentration abilities. Usually things are bad enough whether you call it House Edge, Lady Luck or whatever, so why mess with it by becoming impatient.

Craps @Resorts World (NYC) trip report

I played electronic craps: Chips, table, and betting were all on touch screen but the dice were real.
there were like 60 seats for this machine which was on the 2nd floor. there are 2 more machines on the 3rd floor.
Note: The machines also do Sic Bo and Bacarrat so there are a mix of players around you.

anyway, here are the details:
$10min, $3000 max, 3/4/5x odds.
BUY commision is taken after the win. that means Buying 4/10 is 1.67% and 5/9 is 2%. Much better than their place counterpart.

i usually do 3point Betty: pass line + 2 come bets (all max odds) then wait till a # is hit, then another Come up.
so lets say passline is a 5, and come bets are 6+8 = $30 flat bets + 140 odds = $170 max i could lose before hitting any #'s.

when i saw the BUY 4/10 1.7% house edge i figure that isnt much more than the 1.5% edge for the 6/8 so i changed my strategy to:

- pass line + max odds
- buy the 4/10 for 1/2 max odds, place the 6/8 for 1/2 max odds: 15+15+24+24 = $78
- continuous Come bets

so if pass + come = 5/9, then i would have $20 flat bets + 80 odds + 78 buy/place = $178 max i can lose b4 hitting any #'s.
almost same amount of $ risked, but 2 upsides:
1) i can do continuous come bets which is the best strategy for minimizing house edge.

2) There is continuous action if one of the #'s is rolled. With 3point Betty, it sucks if a # kept getting rolled but you have no $ there. This is GREAT for an action junkie like me :)

Lost all $1000 i put in the machine but had fun.
20/20 hindsight says i was under capitalized. i should have gone with 10x the max amount of $ on the table, which means i should have bought $1800.

edit:
the guy next me had an interesting strategy: $150 Dont, and continuous $150 Feld.
and wouldnt u know it, in the 15 min he was there, 12's came up twice for triple pay Field each time.

his card said he had 20000 points on his screen. in contrast, my 2hrs of Pass/Come, buy/place 4/10, 6/8 only resulted in 400 points.
if thats all in craps, more power to him...

We have the same type machine where I play and I've noticed that sometimes the dice take their sweet time to come to rest at a losing number, almost like there's a magnetic field at work or air currents or something equally fishy.
