Hi Wizard. Great site! Can you please tell me the odds of winning 5, 10, and 15 hands in a row in blackjack (push doesn't count against the streak). Thank you so much!

. BJ is slightly complicated due to BJ’s and splits and double downs and surrenders if allowed. If you’ve won 4 in a row and split the 5th do you only count the first split hand? If you split the first hand and win one and lose one is that the end of the streak or is that a push? If you surrender is that the end of the streak? Does a BJ count as 1.5 wins? If you double down is that two wins?Quote: j6Hi Wizard. Great site! Can you please tell me the odds of winning 5, 10, and 15 hands in a row in blackjack (push doesn't count against the streak). Also, is the GOAL to win the defined number? Or just interested if it would happen while using basic strategy? For a simple example, if it is SOLELY your goal to win 5 in a row, and you have won 3 in a row, and are dealt a pair of 10’a against a dealer 5, you would split. And you would never surrender of course.
I think under ‘normal’ circumstances the player wins 46% of the hands, so to win 5 in a row would be .46 to the 5th power. Around 2% of the time.

Hello,
Thank you for your response. Assuming no splits and blackjack counts as 1 hand. What would be the odds of winning 5, 10 , and 15 consecutive hands. in the form of 2210 to 1 and so on.

How would you like to count ties? As ignored?Quote: j6Hello,

Soopoo gave you most of what you asked.
chance of winning a streak of 1 out of 1 games =46% = 0.46: or 1 in (100/46) or roughly 1 in 2
chance of winning a streak of 5 out of 5 games =0.46^5 = 0.0205: or 1 in (1/0.0205) or roughly 1 in 49
chance of winning a streak of 1 out of 10 games =0.46^10 = 0.00042: or 1 in (1/0.00042) or roughly 1 in 2357
chance of winning a streak of 15 out of 15 games =0.46^15 = 0.0000087: or 1 in (1/0.0000087) or roughly 1 in 114454
All rather academic
You could do the same for losing streaks if you replace 0.46 with 0.54

I've played a double deck where the entire shuffle I lost maybe five hands. I wasn't betting enough on that deck but I still won a fair amount.
I've also won every hand in a row on a single deck where the casino got to where they would shuffle every single deal and I still couldn't lose. I must have won something like 40 hands in a row because I was only betting average 1500 a hand (got fair amount of blackjacks and doubles too, almost no splits because my hands were coming in too strong) and I got up about seventy K, before I lost two hands and then just left.
I remember another time I was complaining to the dealer that I was losing, and I put the table limit (5K at that time, at that casino) out there and got four blackjacks in a row at table limit on the new shuffle.
Play long enough and anything might happen.

I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people.

In blackjack, a streak is just one win followed by another win.
