Hi, im a dealer at a UK casino. I noticed at the bottom of your wizard of odds site, on the page about caribean tud poker you mention you dont know much about a game thats played in russia and around there, well from what a colleague has told me, we have that game in our casino now. Here its called lunar poker, i was going to post all the information about it, what everything pays, the rules etc so you could add it to your site if you wish, and also to see what you think optimal strategy is in different situations etc, just out of interest.

How to play lunar poker
lunar poker is a game that allows the player to play against the house.

aim of the game.
the aim of liunar poker ios to have a higher poker hand than the dealer.

how to play
place your ANTE within the table limit and receive 5 cards. after viewing your hand, proceed with one of the following options:

option 1: fold immediattely - ante lost.
option 2: continue playing with the original 5 cards, by placing a bet amounting to double the ante wager.
option 3: buy a sixth card in an attempt to improve your hand by placing a wager in the "options" box equivalent to the ante wager.
option 4: exchange up to 5 cards in an attempt to improve your hand by placing a wager in the "options" box equivalent to the ante wager.

insurance.
If you have a 3 of a kind or better you may insure your bet with a minimum wager equivalent to your ante wager up to a maximum wager equivalent to the masimum pay-out possible on your bet wager (see pay-out table).

Placing this wager in the "options" box insures your bet against the dealers hand not qualifying. if the dealer does not qualify, your ante and insurance wagers are both paid even money. once all players have clearlt decided on one of the above options the dealer will open their hand.

Payout table
Royal Flush 100-1
Straight Flush 50-1
four of a Kind20-1
Full house 7-1
Flush 5-1
Straight 4-1
3 of a kind 3-1
2 pairs 2-1
pair 1-1
ace,king 1-1

Second hand poker
aside from winning poker cand combination your ahnd may contain a second poker combination that will be paid even if the second combination is not stronger that the dealers qualifying hand!

Dealer not qualifying.
all ANTE and INSURANCE wagers are paid even money. the bet wager is returned but not paid. there is the optionat this point of:

Buying the game.
a wager equivalent to the value of your ante bet may be placed in the option box. the dealer is forced to discard the highest value card in their hand and take a replacement card from the dek of play, if the dealer qualifies and you beat the dealers hand your hand will then be paid out according to payout table. if the dealer still doesnt qualify, the ante and bet wagers are returned but not paid.

multiple wagering option.
you can choose to play 2,3 or 4 boxes, however the 2nd 3rd and 4th boxes must be palyed blind meaning that you place your ante and bet wagers without seeing the cards first. on your blind hands you may buy a 6th card however you cannot exchange cards or fold your hand.

House edge: 2.31%*

*the above %age figure is the average expectation, but can vary due to customer playing style and options.

and thats the game. So, optimal play? would love to see your comments on this game.

How did you calculate the house edge? It seems like it would be quite complicated, and that an optimal strategy would be hard to ascertain. But I think we have some here who will be up to the challenge.

I didnt calculate the house edge. Everything i wrote in the first post was taken from the leaflet explaining how to paly, and on there it said the house edge. it did say the the house edge would vary with different players playing styles however.
