Easy to find the total number of permutations of a Rubik's Cube online: somewhere around 4.3 x 10^19.

How many possible permutations are there with one side solved?

I put some factorials and exponents into a calculator and get around 40 billion. Feels like I am on the right track; also feels like I'm doing something wrong.

Could be totally wrong as just doing this off cuff after looking up the formula for total permutations of;

8! * 12! * 3^8 * 2^12 / (2*3*2)

So if one face solved I think it should be (note, I’m not confident the denominator stays the same, so this could be off by an order of magnitude:

4! * 8! * 3^4 * 2^8 / (2*3*2)

Are you accounting for the fact that there are definite mechanical restrictions? I suspect not.
Psalm 25:16 Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Proverbs 18:2 A fool finds no satisfaction in trying to understand, for he would rather express his own opinion.

That’s why you divide by 2*3*2.

Does solving one "side" include correctly aligning the colors along the edges of the four adjacent faces?

Saw this video on youtube. It doesn't answer the op question but it's interesting. [Skip to the 10 minute mark if you want to get to the point.]

God's Number is 20.
The fastest human solve in competition is 3.45 seconds.
The fastest computer solve is less than 1 second (seen in video).

Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.
