I have noticed uth pop up in a lot of casinos so I wanted to see the house edge for the game. I like that the odds are low on the ante and blind bet, but am curious what the house edge would be on the trips bet. I searched multiple sites, but all they say is stay away from that bet, but no one gives specific edge. Does anyone have that information? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Also, I have gone to the wizard of odds site and it is the one bonus bet where house edge is not listed. I went online to look at other sites, but none mention house edge. I'm looking for the answer as a percentage. For example pair plus edge for tc poker is around 4%. I'm looking for a percentage of edge on trips bet for uth poker. I'm guessing it's going to be something ridiculous, over 10% but want to know for sure.

Thanks to anyone who puts the time into this.

Not sure about the exact house edge percentage on trips, but I know you are NOT receiving the true payouts for trips, straights, etc. Essentially you are getting ripped off. That being, why would you want to place that bet in the dark. Save your money and place a 4X bet when you statistically have the advantage over the dealer. If you are lucky enough to get a Royal, it pays 500:1 on your blind bet that is free vs 50:1 that you must pay to receive. In addition, you still get paid off on your straights, flushes, etc on the blind.

If you insist on playing the trips, save your money and go play the machines.

Wizard of Odds DOES have the odds on the trips bet. Look a little closer. The trips wager can vary from one location to another and they have several different options. The blind payouts are copyrighted and are the same everywhere.

What Commish means is, go down below the Example that is just below the Wizard's Strategy; there are four sets of pay tables for the Trips bet, and each shows the HE.

The "quick version" is, if Royal, SF, and 3 Of A Kind pay 50-1, 40-1, and 3-1, then the HE for these Quads / Full House / Flush / Straight payouts is:
30 / 9 / 7 / 4: 0.9018%
30 / 8 / 6 / 5: 1.904%
30 / 8 / 7 / 4: 3.4979%
20 / 7 / 6 / 5: 6.1808%

I'm a novice player. I guess the breakdown I am looking for would be more similar to the pair plus bet on tc poker. I know it's a sucker bet. But basically, what I want to know is if I place $5 on the trips bet every single time, how much am I losing per bet on that $5 bet on avg. For Tc if house edge is 4%, I know I'm losing 20 cents on the $5 bet long term. What am I losing long term on uth?

the worse paytable is about a loss of 31 cents.

these sucker bets can be fun when they win, but the longer one plays
the GREATER the chance of showing a net loss from that bet.

calculated:
chance of showing a net loss after X number of equal bets
bets: % show net loss
10: 55.78%
50: 59.28%
100: 61.27%
200: 64.99%
500: 71.8%
1,000: 78.84%
5,000: 96.1%
10,000: 99.36%
I say, if you are playing for fun, go for it.
if it is your money and you have fun betting it,
you are KING

just keep it fun
good luck

they have the 50/40/20 paytable down the street from me.
Have not played for some time
maybe next week for fun

TCP the most common PP paytable gives about a 7% house edge. UTH the most common Trips paytable gives about a 3.5% house edge.

It all goes toward why you are playing. If you’re there for the table camaraderie and the chance to win, while accepting that the house is going to nick you something on every hand, then you might want to accept the risk. I do. On the other hand, UTH is a serious bankroll game, and a lot of people bring $300 to a $5 table when they should bring $1000+. A bad streak will wipe you out pretty quickly when you include that trips bet.

It’s all a matter of what you feel comfortable with. I don’t play the 3 Card bet at Mississippi, and the last session I played had two straight flushes. I know that over the long run I’m ahead, but as a lifetime move it doesn’t make any difference, I can afford the $5 bet and hitting two straight flushes would have been a real blast.

Do what makes you happy, it’s your money.
