Here's an interesting Wikipedia article about Chinese cards that are slender: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Color_Cards.

The cards were about that shape, but looked like they had the standard 2-Ace ranks and the usual suits. However, I never got close enough to really tell.

hi, Wizard,

that card game is called "zhi pai"(chinese pinyin), meaning ‘words poker", it is numbers from 1-9. but it is written by both modern chinese language and traditional chinese language. the rule is difficult, a little like chinese 'majiang', we need to put 123, 111...all cards into ready pattern. i never learned how to play it. but my brother is good at it. and my mother knows how to play it. i hate this game. but it is popular in chinese aged of more than 50 years old.

Interesting, how is it for playing if you're not from China. I mean I like 'majiang', but I wan't to try this one. Even if I 26 years old :) Because our traditional casino games is boring for me.

Thanks Tom! Sorry for the tardy reply.

Hi Mr. Wizard,

This is an interesting thread. I'm still trying to learn the principle of this game and your analysis helps a lot.

BTW, Could you show us how to calculate the probability for the Ultimate NiuNiu?

Dear All Niu Niu professionals,

I'm looking for any possibility to skip 5% commision and replace with some kind of extra rule to maintain house age.
e.g. in Baccarat with no commision you pay half when Bankers wins with 6.
Did you have any experience with Niu Niu without commision and what is house edge for this variant?

I appreciate any advice.
Thank you very much

Nowadays the casino in Sihanouk charge a 5% commission on the equal bet (ante bet) when the player hand is Niu 7 and above that gives the house advantage to 1.17%

and there's one casino that pays half on Niu 5 only with no other commission on the equal bet <- maybe you can apply this rule

and they develop a new crazy side bet or bonus bet as super NiuNiu
the paytable is according to your points of Niu
Niu Niu 10:1
Niu 9 9:1
.
.
.
Niu 1 and No Niu 1:1
all the pay more than 2 times requires a 5% commission and if you lose you have to pay the same amount to the house

I'm open to hearing about other casino games in Cambodia. The one you mention sounds kind of like a charity gambling game I've seen in the US, where a basketball rolls around a grid and eventually lands in a particular color. Before all this, players place bets on the various colors.

I could write a long articles on my last journey.
here for short:
dirty broken street. hundreds of casinos. all Chinese. no westerners seen. they all should look like Chinese underground casinos. but it is legal there.
famous for cheating, but i didn't see any cheating. famous for unsafety, but i felt ok.
If any documentary, like BBC, wants to make some films, i should make some help.

by the way, the above number is made by myself. if copy, it should be mentioned, it is from Wizard's fan.

I will look into these alleged commission-free Asia Gaming rules.
It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet.
