They have a progressive that pays only on the flopped hand
100% for Royal with $1000 envy
10% for straight flush with $300 envy
300 for 1 for quads
50 for 1 for full house
40 for 1 for flush
30 for 1 for straight
10 for 1 for trips
My question is what does the progressive meter need to be at to make the $1 bet have + EV?
I assume the bonus bet in this game is a sucker bet just like trips in UTH, but I have to admit it looked way more attractive than the trips bet. What is the casino edge on the bonus for the two cards the player is dealt using the following pay table which I'm only listing in case it is not standard?
30 to 1 AA
25 to 1 AK SUITED
20 to 1 AQ or AJ SUITED
15 to 1 AK UNSUITED
10 to 1 KK QQ or JJ
5 to 1 AQ or AJ UNSUITED
3 to 1 22 THROUGH TT
Like I said I know it can't be positive EV but in UTH the other day I got dealt AQ AQ AQ AQ AJ AJ on six consecutive hands with at least one suited time, then I saw this yesterday it looks way more attractive than trips in UTH. Just wondering how bad it really is.

On the Second to last line it says: Top payout average** $81,813. Does that mean the meter has to be above that number for + EV?

Quote: EdgeLookerSomebody keeps sending Grandpa on a wild goose chase (link above is for Caribbean Stud Poker, not Texas Holdem Bonus Poker). Next he will be sent to the store to buy chemlight batteries, lol.
Hi EdgeLooker,
Yes, it is a link to Caribbean Stud Poker.
But If you Read what I write Carefully: it say (Go to: Progressive Jackpot Side-Bet).
I found the progressive side bet section you were referring to, but there are 15 pay tables with break even meter points listed, but none of them are the same as the pay table I asked about.

Hi GrandpaVegas,
Sorry, None of the 15 is the one you are looking for, as I don't have the time to check all 15 tables out for you.

The progressive is currently at 360,000 which I believe makes the entire game +ev when our min bet is $15
I played at the Venetian two months ago, but I don't remember there being a progressive on Ultimate Texas Holdem. Certainly if there were one that high I would have investigated it. Are you sure about this one.
GrandpaVegas
I've seen at some properties $1 progressives where the Royal doesn't have to be flopped. These jackpots are much lower anywhere from 2000 to 10000+. I'm not sure what the rest of the pay scale is but do you have break even numbers on these progressives? I asked a floor person how often it hits and they said the last two were 26k and 14k. Not having to be flopped almost seems worth the $1 for over 20k.
Thank you and thanks again for answering the last one,
GrandpaVegas
I was there last night and was really surprised there were not more players trying to take advantage.

Quote: GrandpaVegasI finally made it over to the Venetian and you were right that the progressive was so high. It is actually now at 550,000. The problem is that you have to bet $5 instead of $1 so as of now it only equates to about $110,000 if you were able to bet $1s.
GrandpaVegas
Ouch.
