Hi, I'm sure you have all heard of the bad beat pools offered in poker rooms. I am wondering two questions. First of all, assume that you can chop blinds at a casino. What sets of cards, and how big does the bad beat pot have to be in comparison to the rake, to make this a "winning" bet. Feel free to make assumptions on the bad beat rules, or create a table. How do these numbers change when the table is playing as a team? Could there ever be a profitable time where the table, all playing together all agree to chop anything other than potentially profitable hands. When would that scenario occur?

Thanks!

I believe the chances of hitting a bad beat jackpot are 1 in about 250,000 deals if you are playing at a 10 handed game. Worse with less players. I don't think there are many opportunities to consider the bad beat jackpot as an advantage play or something "worth" chasing.

I don't know if you can get your answer from the info presented, but have you seen the Wizard's page about Bad Beat Jackpots?

I invented a few casino games. Info: http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com/ ————————————————————————————————————— Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁
