I heard somewhere awhile ago that Doyle Brunson said the real definition of the term refers to an old vegas motto of "8 miles out, 6 feet under". Does anyone else have any other theories on its original meaning?

When I was in the bar biz in the late 70's,
I was told 86'ed was a bar term for kicked
out permanently. Cops used it also. It's
