Hi next month I will be seeing Phantom and Lion King and probably some other shows, I have already seen Penn & Teller, Mystere, O, and Ka. I would like to write some reviews for the site on the shows I see on my trip and if they are acceptable perhaps they will be posted!

I guess you can for sure post it in the forum, better yet do a blog post, but for the proper area, so to speak, that must have to be submitted somehow. Croupier just did a review for a Hotel [Luxor]. I'm pretty sure prior to that he had no special status here.

I'd say do it.

If it's good enough, the Wiz or JB will turn it into an official review.

better yet do a blog post.

Why would you suggest that?

Why would you suggest [a blog post]?

Seems like more worthy items, easier to save, less of a mere statement or question, more of featured thing, ought to be a blog post?

I have noticed you don't blog, not being critical mind you, just wonder why?

Perhaps the thing to do in this case is see if a properly placed review can be submitted, skipping the rest.

I've stated my reasons why I dislike blogs in this forum in other threads, but here's the short version.

The biggest problem is confusion. Should a post go on a forum page or a blog page? What's the difference?

Forums are designed to be an open exchange, and invite responses and commentary. Blogs, by definition, are one-way transactions, and should not have replies.

Because the blogs allow responses, it dilutes the effectiveness of having them. Many members do not even look at the blogs, or not on a regular basis. Some members, particularly new members, use the blog to ask questions.

You guys really don't want blogs. I don't do blogs, and then what would you do without all of my enlightened insight?

As long as the reviews are at least as good as something I could write, and that isn't hard to achieve, I'd be happy to make them official show reviews. You can send them to me via the "contact" link and I'll format them and get them in the right place. Thanks for volunteering!

David McKee does some show reviews for this site, and he is a professional writer (and pretty good, IMO). That said, that shouldn't stop you from submitting some reviews. Some of the entertainment sections of the site could use some filling out.

I see your point. You just convinced me it would be better for this site if people couldn't comment on a blog. I would kind of miss it, but you are right, the nature of a blog is such that you might make a post even if convinced no one will comment. It took me a long time to realize this, I have blogged at blogspot dot com for years [I prefer not to link to it here]. I haven't really reconciled with the absurdity of posting something almost no one may look at, or, in the case of this site, blogging anonymously, which is pretty weird. But I can tell I will continue with it.
