Not really gambling, but I am wondering how to figure out the optimal strategy for this Farkle game on facebook.

Here's the rules of the game:
You start your turn with six dice.
Roll the dice to start your turn.
If you roll some scoring dice, you must take some points before you can roll again
If you don't score, you FARKLE! You bank 0 points and end your turn. Three Farkles in a row and you lose 500 points
Once you've taken 300 points, you can bank them or carry on rolling. Banking the points will end your turn.
You can only re-roll the dice you didn't score with. When you've scored with all six dice you get a next roll with six more dice.

Here are the scoring combinations:
1 - 100 points each
5 - 50 points each
Three of a kind:
1,1,1 - 1000 points
2,2,2 - 200 points
3,3,3 - 300 points
4,4,4 - 400 points
5,5,5 - 500 points
6,6,6 - 600 points
Straight 1,2,3,4,5,6 - 1500 points
Three pair - 750 points
Four of a kind - 2 x three of a kind score
Five of a kind - 3 x three of a kind score
Six of a kind - 4 x three of a kind score

So the question is what is the strategy for banking your points vs. rolling again?

There are two ways to play the game. A one player version is to get the maximum score for ten turns.
The two player version players take turns and the first player to reach 10,000 points wins.
Is there a different strategy for the two player version based on how far ahead or behind the other player is?
