In EZ baccarat, aka commission free, if the banker wins the hand with a 3 card total of 7, the banker hand is a push and the player hand loses. For those who wager on the Fortune 7 side bet, they are paid 40 to 1. This rule change compensates for not charging commission.

QUESTION: Dealers sometimes forget this rule change and pay the banker 3 card 7 hand, as they would in regular baccarat. How does doing this mispay on, say, 25% of occurrences, affect the house edge? I say 25% as this occurs about one quarter of the time where i play.

Thank you!

It almost removes the edge but not quite. Modifying the table from https://wizardofodds.com/games/baccarat/appendix/6/#toc-EZBaccarat gives:

Event Combinations Probability Pays Return
Banker win 383290367308416 0.436118 1 0.436118
Normal tie 83552962932288 0.095069 0 0
Banker 3-card 7 win - push 19805383926144 * .75 = 14,854,037,944,608 0.022535 * .75 = 0.01690125 0 0
Banker 3-card 7 win - pays 19805383926144 * .25 = 4,951,345,981,536 0.022535 * .25 = 0.00563375 1 0.00563375
