So in the spirit of trying to do this right, I am trying to compile a personal list of places that would be better to be a local at and ones where the out of towner is favored more. From cursory exploration into this it seems like for the most part out of towners will get the better deals and mail. However, I know that there are some casinos that cater mainly to locals and will have better offers for them.

If you have any lists or suggestions on casinos where it is better to be one or the other, please let me know. I don't plan on making this a ongoing things but there will be a transitional period so if there are offers that can be got with my old ID it would behoove me to know before I go to my Nevada State one full time.

Thanks again.

Strip casinos - Out of state
Everywhere else - Local

That's how I did my setup. I don't use rooms at CET and MGM much, but many locals have told me after you switch your address to a Las Vegas one you're screwed in getting offers. I still get freeplay/vouchers with roomstays so its worth it for me to be out of state on the strip.

Surrender your out of state license when you get your Nevada one, but keep an extra one. I made 2 copies just so when I switch over (which I should do soon since my registration on my car expired) I can hand over my old license and keep the replacement from out of state. I'm getting mail forwarded for now so I still get offers from strip properties. I'm actually looking to use another address soon, since the forwarding is temporary.

Boyd/Stations/Palms are better off as a local. TBH anywhere besides the strip it's best to go local since the mailers are pretty strong. Just remember you were going to play full pay machines. They give next to no mailers for your action. You have to find games that aren't the best paying in the casino, but still qualify for promotions/multipliers.

A lot of APs have "drop box" services out of state. It's an address to a business somewhere on the east coast where they just collect your mail and forward it to you, for a fee of course. If you live in Vegas it's a good way to keep getting the out-of-towner offers after your free USPS forwarding stops. Like djatc said, keep a copy of your old license. You don't even have to do that, just say "oops I lost it" when you're supposed to surrender the old one. I've never heard of anyone having a problem with this, what can they do? You lost it.
