ARISE is certainly a good choice, but I think the positioning of the letters is that strong. In other words, I think you can expect to get a lot of yellows from it.

Per wordlebot the starting words that receive a 99 score are: slate, crane, slant, trace and crate. I always start with slate as I’ve gotten to remember some of the best second guess probing words depending on the yellow and green patterns the first word gives. For example, the best second word of slate gives all blacks would be crony.
The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong; but that is the way to bet.

Let me say out front that I'm bad and I cheated. I was absolutely stumped after turn 2.
Wordle 517 4/6
⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ STARE
⬜⬜⬜🟨🟨 DOILY
⬜⬜⬜🟨🟨 VINYL -- I knew this was impossible, as turn 2 shows there was no I. However, after a good 15 minutes, I just couldn't think of anything possible. I recalled from high school chemistry a lot of words ending in YL, like ethyl, but that used two letters already ruled out. I really wanted to try mohel, but it's not spelled with a y. Anyway, vinyl was the best I could do and you can see that didn't yield much.
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 GLYPH -- I admit I turned to what I call my World cheater at this point. I might have been stuck for hours otherwise.
In retrospect, I should have tried to at least find more letters, with a guess like GULCH, but I was stubborn and wanted both the L and Y in there. At least I learned something about myself with this one and it wasn't good. Hopefully this will teach me something about patience. I make the same mistake in golf -- going for the green in the rocks, when I should settle to get back on the fairway. I end up in a worse spot and damaging my club.
I plead guilty to being impatient, stupid, and cheating. What is my punishment?

Wordle 517 3/6
After I determined that the only vowel possible was the 'Y,' I immediately thought of the game The 7th Guest that I had played back in the early 90's. The game itself was a series of puzzles, but with some interesting theming and a storyline.
One of the puzzles involved unscrambling letters to create a sentence. The kicker? The only vowels in the entire sentence were Y's! The solution was, IIRC: "Sly, shy, spry gypsy trysts by my crypt."
Unfortunately, I had eliminated the T and S, so none of those words could have been the solution. It took me a few minutes to come up with the correct solution.

Mrs. Joeman and I usually do Wordle in the morning. As she typically gets up before me, she usually has played it before I get up, but we always take care not to talk about it until we have both completed it.
Anyway, this is the first time we solved it with both of us using the exact same words!
