After SEVEN, I figured the pattern was S_IE_.
At first all I could find was SHIED, SKIED, and SPIED, but I assumed they were nixed from the solution list as they are past tense verbs.
I finally thought of SPIEL, but it took a couple of minutes.

Was due for some good luck. Got knocked over by a fork driver toting a cardboard Gaylord on a skid. I was sore for a bit,but I survived this was Monday night

A rare time I guessed correctly.
