Not "a" black pepper, but "black pepper" is ground black peppercorns. You can't really say "table pepper" as I for one use a mix of four different colors.

I admit I wasn't the coolest kid in the 80's, but I never once heard the word "fly" used as slang. If forced, I recall the "fly girls" on In Living Color, but thought that was more of a 90's show and still had no idea Fly was being used as an adjective. Oh well, I guess I'm the last to know.
