Interestingly, it appears I can say whatever I want in the open Forum, in the context of this game, even if I'm lying. I'm not lying, though, and as was pointed out prior to the first and second rounds, if I tell everyone to steal and then steal myself, nobody gets anything. Therefore, it doesn't benefit me at all.

I guess Wizard could technically bribe me to steal, but that wouldn't interest me for a number of reasons:

1.) Wizard has an AP mindset, so he's not going to offer me a bribe greater than the amount he expects to pay out that round WITHOUT having to bribe me.

2.) I have donated everything I have ever won from any WoV game to one charity or another. In fact, Wizard occasionally compensated me for proofreading work for him and I asked that he donate that to charity, as well. I'll donate whatever my share of the pool with RS is to charity. Long story short, whatever decision I make does not enrich me personally.

3.) People would be very upset with me.

STEALING, IN GENERAL

I think the people who stole throughout this game were smart, even in Round 3. It makes complete sense to me and will result, quite possibly, in Wizard paying out more money.

There were two things that I think would have ended this game prematurely:

1.) Following SOOPOO's plan.

2.) EVERYONE pooling the funds.

Who knows how long this game will go? I'm certain that there's a maximum amount Wizard wants to pay out, in total, but we don't know what that amount is.

What I do know is that Wizard would not have done the $10/$20 in Round 3 and I doubt he would have increased it to $20/$40 in Round 4 had everybody been all in the same prize pool or executed SOOPOO's strategy. If everyone played with 100% cooperation, then what possible reason would Wizard have to continue the game and potentially add more rounds?

Therefore, I say, "Great job," to the teams that stole throughout the game so far. Whatever the human social experiment is here, the stealing, I believe, has assured that the experiment will go on longer...which means more overall money in the prize pool and out of Wizard's wallet.

For my part, I'm honestly sharing if I am a team captain and the rest of the team has no choice in the matter. All of the other teams can steal and split that pot, or if they think everyone will actually share AND the incentive is good enough, they can do whatever they like with that. If I am a team captain, I will submit my team's decision to share immediately. That should make that round very easy for everyone, then the round after that, you guys can get back to whatever it is you're doing on your teams.

To avoid misunderstandings, can we please get a correct version of this chart?

3. Were the total winnings = $80? ($60 from OD and $20 from Wiz) And, OD's donation of $60 is split 5 ways between himself and the other 4 members of OD's team. Did all members of OD's team agree to pool? We need a financial summary of where everyone stands and the status of the expected value of the game-ending pool.

MAP is on team 2. Wizard notified us of that after I interrupted his mountain climb to ask. Detail easily corrected.

OD has 4 members, all of whom committed to share in the pool before this round. They will each get credited $15 per previous posts by OD pledging that .

18 people (as of yesterday) will get Wizard's $20. 12 of them (as of yesterday) had committed to share their winnings. Think that is changing slightly. I counted those numbers after billryan resigned, but before Mission joined.

Not sure as to the very latest, or exactly how Wizard will treat billryan substitution with Mission to this point. I defer that one.

No idea how many rounds there will be. No idea how much money will be offered on any given round. All up to Wizard.

Okay, I will apologize for MidwestAP again. I amended the same errant table for the team formations. Just removed his name from team 3.

I should have made it clear when exactly Mission was taking Bill's spot. In my head, I was thinking team six could do what they wanted with his departure, but Mission would not officially start until team 5. For what it's worth, I was traveling and didn't have much time.

Couple things, both minor, and a note.

MAP is missing in the round 2 table. Not sure where the error was made on that, but he was reinstated immediately, and is credited with 4 rounds in the last chart.

Axel only has 3 rounds indicated in the last chart, but has played all 4. Missing a zero, I guess.

Going just by this chart, I show 21 players sharing $92.35, or $4.40 each, after 4 rounds. That's significantly more than any non-sharing player has individually. So that amount will go down if more of them join.

I would prefer they be allowed to still join, but I think there might need to be a cutoff date, now that MIke has said 12 rounds.. Whether we do that or not, I see some gripes coming, and would ask now that everyone roll with it, rather than feel resentful if some join. The rules and amounts will be changing.

I think there should be a cutoff date for pooling as well. Some people want their cake and eat it too... "omg the avg from the team is $4 and I have $5, clearly it's +EV for me to keep my $5 instead of pool!!!" So let's stick it back to them. Anyone not willing to pool by the end of round 5, we don't let them pool. They can have fun dealing with the transfer fee's or whatever over their $5. You wanna be part of something fun on the forums or not?

Yes people can lie in the game, but we can treat pooling separate from the game. Thus, if someone lies about pooling, it's the same as welshing on a bet, and they would not be a member in good standing, in my opinion.

Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Wizard has suggested that my table should be the ongoing authoritative statement of account, rather than having him maintain his own record.

The bet was $60 to his team, who have each individually agreed to pool winnings. So while my money shows highest, in reality, it's a win for everyone.

That's not complicated. Any winnings that myself and RS have are going to the same advantage play, that he will manage, and the result of said play will go to each of us according to the percentage and amount of $$$ devoted to said play.

I honestly would have joined the main pool, but I wanted to differentiate myself a little bit. Besides, I like video poker bar advantage plays, but I don't live in Vegas, so I can't do many of those.

Why my team... well a couple of reasons. I got to request my captain to 'share' though he new steal was the best choice. Plus, I get a share of my own money and control whether it gets pooled or not Plus, I didn't think too hard about it.

Let's try to lower the temperature this week and see if we can't all share on a smaller amount. The pool will be back to $10, but $20 if everyone shares. Deadline is 9 AM Vegas time on Sunday (July 15).

I know there has been a split of share/steal votes to spread the pool but surely if the aim is to maximise our winnings then for this round we all need to share as it doubles the prize, benefits us all and puts more money in the pooled pot at the end.

Speaking of the pooled pot at the end, I saw a post from Romes who at the moment has $5 and the pool value is only $4 so understand why he might feel like rescinding on any pooled pot at the end. My point, and maybe it's my misunderstanding, is that I thought we were all pooling the winnings to put the overall total onto or into something else whereby we have a chance of spinning the winnings up. So rather than pooling and then splitting the total and getting $5 each I'd be more up for splitting the pot over x other bets / accumulators to maximise what we can win and therefore change my $5 into $50, $100 or more.

My vote will be to share this round, if you have any thoughts on this then please PM me and I'll reply back. Please bear in mind I am 8hrs ahead of Vegas time so if I don't hear from you by Saturday night UK time the vote will be going in.

Yes. We should all share this round. It might have been different if RS, Aycarumba and another renegade had been on the same team, or heaven forbid, been captain.
As it is, they should get outvoted/overruled and there should, hopefully, be no stealing team.

It's important to never read the rules. Not on a board game, or a slot machine, or a credit card bonus. Never ever read the rules! Reading rules is like reading instructions for ready to assemble furniture. It's like surrendering to the man.

I believe that dipping sauces, and even beverages, are allowed. However, if someone barfs before they get to $100, I think we all lose. But you never know; Wiz keeps changing up the rules!

Actually, I think that a Chicken McNugget Co-operation Game, where we get Chicken McNuggets instead of money, might be awesome. I bet there wouldn't nearly be as many STEAL votes in that game! ;)
