I was playing the Wiz' craps game and got on quite a roll:

Kinda impressive considering it starts you with $1K and limits bets to $1K.

My next roll was a 7 out. (Not knowing when it would end, I hit the screen shot key almost every roll!)

Next I rolled a number, clicked thirty-six times to reset all those bets, and hit a 7 out immediately. And did the same thing twice more. So I gave up trying to crack $200K.

One reason I did so well was, not only that I got on a great roll, but I was really maximixing my bets. Max PL and Come with max odds, as well as $1K place AND buy on all six numbers.

Man this would have been easier if it wasn't programmed to pay "and down", and/or if there were higher value chips!

I am wondering how long it took you to do that. I tried and got to $35K. How many times did you roll your dice to get to $198K? The wizard should consider adding a counter.

About half an hour. I was on a VERY lucky streak. I only had a 7-out a few times, and even those were after I had at least broken even. It was immediately after taking that screen shot that it all went to the dumper.

Now take that luck to a real casino!

I thought about that. But there are three problems:

1 - In the past few weeks, there were many times where I busted out before getting even close to $2K, let alone $200K!

2 - Luck like that doesn't exist in the real world.

3 - They'd send the coolers over before it got close!

#1 I buy

#2 is not the case. Random dice and a RNG have the same chances for luck. Though I will buy that you don't have to tip the computer along the way.

3. Play at the right place. A guy was on a roll so good at the Horseshoe that Benny Binion himself had to ask to "borrow" some $5,000 chips because the guy had every last one at the casino and there was another high-roller around. Eventually the guy dropped it all back.

But the thread is about the 200K... all gamblers remember that one, just as all fishermen remember about that really large fish and forget all the others. I wonder if you had added up all those times when you reached Gambler's Ruin whether your net situation would have been in the plus column or not. I once got up to 7,500 dollars on that online game of Pai Gow Tiles...and I don't even know how to play the game!

>Luck like that doesn't exist in the real world.
Actually it does. Consider the recent history making roll at the Borgata. Someone fresh from a newbie craps class. And the whole darned table never pressed a bet during it! The casino was lucky that day!
Oh...by the way: if you don't pay for that wincraps shareware program it skews your luck by slowly increasing the number of Sevens that will roll.

I don't know if coolers actually exist. The house will switch the dice perhaps, but that is about it.
Ofcourse at my level of play, the house would not need a cooler!

Yeah, there were MANY times that I busted out the $1000. Probably over 200 times. Or close to it.

No luck? That was kinda an inside joke since this site is more about probability and statistics than luck.

Coolers? I threw that in only because of the recent coolers thread. I don't believe in coolers.

By the way, if you're interested in my strategy, here goes:

Establish a point, then place $500 each on the 6/8. If either hits, put $500 on the 5. If any hit, put $500 on the 9. If any hit, regress down to $1,200 across (i.e. $200 buy 4, 10, $200 place 5, 6, 8, 9). Let them hit a couple times, then press $25 across every other hit.

While I often bust out, I also frequently do OK with this. Like going to $5K or more before it turns around.

I simply got real lucky, as well as playing stupid agressive, when I hit that $198K.

To try something similar in the real world, I'd start with a smaller bankroll, and I'd need a casino that allows for fractional betting units. I.E. bet/press in multiples of $1.25 and $1.50.
