The question for the poll is which day suits you best, but feel free to chime in about anything regarding social activities during the show.
Quote: Wizard...lunch before the expo...
Um, the expo hours are 10-5 Tue & Wed, 10-3 Thur. Are you planning on showing up late, or did you mean breakfast?
Last year Miplet and I were staying at IP, so we met each morning at about 9:20 and had a quick bite at McDs between Harrah's and Casino Royale, then walked to Venitian / Sands.
There was talk last year about a late lunch / early dinner on Thursday. I was against it because I was flying out Thursday evening. Miplet flew out at the same time.
I'm staying thru Saturday this year, so I'm more open to whatever everyone else wants.
However, I still say dinner.
Hmmm, when I think about it, after three days, I had had enough last year. As I recall, Miplet and I cut out a little early on day 3.
So, yeah, lunch at the Venetian one day sounds good.
Just as long as it's not in the employee cafeteria. LOL
Admin note: removed image www.djteddybear.com/images/g2e_reception.png
And I therefore would suggest we cross Tuesday off the list of options for the WoV lunch.
Another thought is "drinks" after the show one day at the Venetian/Palazzo (Wiz can you do that as an employee of LVS?). Getting out of parking garage is a bear anyway after 4:30PM, although many watering holes may be busy with convention traffic. Stopping for a quick pop before dinner may open up a lot of folks calendars, particularly if they have a dinner or reception engagement later that night. Whoever wants to stay and get dinner together could leave from there.
I think Wednesday may be the best day regardless of what is chosen.
Congratulations Teddy, does this mean you are now a made man in the Evil Empire? Was Roger your sponsor ?
I remember what happened to Donnie Brasco's sponsor. LOL
Yes, employees can eat and drink on property. In fact, they are encouraged to, so if asked a question they know the place better. I may be able to get an employee discount.

$17 for a bacon burger? Are you buying?
Quote: Wizard... What about I Love Burgers at the Palazzo? Maybe just drinks at first, for those who have a more important dinner to get to, and then eating at 7:00 or whatever for those who have nothing better to do. I also tend to think Wednesday is the best day.
That would work with me and probably Mr.CasinoGames as well.

If you read the menu carefully, it's really a bacon cheeseburger. So quite a good value.

LOL! Sure it is..
Delicious!
I'm not a Vegan, though, so I'd ask for a slice of provolone on all of that.
Yeah, I laughed at that too.Quote: buzzpaff' Leading Table Games Professional "

I'd love to know what mailing list they bought, and how I got on there, but I ain't complaining!
And since that reception is Tuesday afternoon, I'll repeat that I'd prefer the WoV event not be Tuesday.

Yes, I am OK with that.

No a real value was Little Tavern burgers. "Buy 'em by the bag"
Sadly, the last one closed in 2008.

Have you been taking lessons from my father on money management?

Its the principle of the thing. John D. Rockefeller
was the richest man in the world, and when he
travelled with his family he scrutinized every item
on a restaurant bill and checked it against the menu.
Getting screwed isn't fun, even when you can afford
it.
I meant to comment on this.Quote: EvenBob$17 for a bacon burger? Are you buying?
When you think "Bacon Burger", you often think of an ordinary beef patty, topped with some cheese and a slice or two of bacon.
This seems different:
Quote: menuThe Burgers
We proudly serve Certified Angus Beef...
The Standard
Ground Angus, lettuce, beefsteak tomato, red onion, brioche bun - $10
i (heart) bacon
A blend of ground sirloin and applewood-smoked bacon, crispy bacon, bacon mayo, smoked gouda, onion strings, brioche bun - $17
When compared to the standard burger, the $17 price on the bacon burger doesn't sound so bad.
I'm not sure which burger I'll get (I'm not a fan of mayo or gouda) but I'm in.

They throw in a few great sounding extra words
and you're hooked, huh. 'Applewood smoked, crispy,
smoked, brioche' and they got you where they want you,
forking over $17 for a burger it cost them less than
$2 to make.
Here's how it would read if it cost $4: Ground beef,
bacon, mayo, gouda and onion on a bun. Looks and
tastes the same only your not paying $13 extra because
they know a few creative words.
P.S. Ground sirloin makes an awful burger, way too
dry because of not enough fat content. Always use
regular burger or ground chuck, nothing lower in
fat content like ground round or sirloin.

My guess is the fat content of the burger goes way up because the raw bacon is gound in with the sirloin.....or am I not reading the menu description correctly?

Fat content of the burger itself is whats important,
its where all the flavor is. I knew a guy in the 80's
who owned a small joint called Juicy Burger that
had been doing well since the 50's. The big 'fat scare'
in the 80's made him swith to a leaned ground
beef and he almost went out of business. Lean
beef makes a tasteless buger and just in time
he switched back and saved himself. Ground sirloin
tastes like cardboard.
Yeah, you need some fat, but as the link suggests, the Mallaird reactions, which brown the proteins in meat are as important for flavourful, meaty steak. Too much fat, and you lose something in the taste. That's why a nice marbled steak is a wonderful thing to cook quick over a high heat, but a lean cut needs more time too develop.
Lean burgers are just not as good (Fat Burger here advertises a very lean burger... it's the worse in town), as that fat mixed in needs to work its magic in the cooking process and get through the protein. But a low-and-slow chilli is better with leaner ground beef (in my opinion), as fattier meats gets a horrible slick on top of the dish.

Lean ground beef has its place, just not as a burger.
When will the decision be made on which day to have the event. Probably gonna be a one night stand for me.
Of course, feel free to make your own smaller meetings with each other by PM.
I would also like to suggest that Shufflemaster judges get that over with before COB Wednesday, so we can compare notes.
I hope I'm allowed to vote on the Shuffle Master games - not sure what my fav. will be :-)
"COB" ?Quote: WizardI would also like to suggest that Shufflemaster judges get that over with before COB Wednesday, so we can compare notes.

Close of business ...
Now that you have your free pass, are you planning on attending for more than one day?Quote: buzzpaffI intend to be there for the lunch. Whether I get a ticket to G2E is another matter entirely. Got a few irons in the fire, but nothing definite yet.

FYI: Imperial Palace, walking distance from the Sands Convention Center, currently has standard rates for those nights in the $30 range. The rate I got as a Total Rewards member was in the $18 range.
Quote: WizardSorry for going off topic a bit, but NicksGamingStuff and I have been planning to partake in the feats of strength with a one-mile running race. Not necessarily during G2E, since we both live here, but if anybody else is interested in a physical competition, we can open it up to anybody.
Can I get some recent photos of both you guys? We might try to set up some Forum action on this one. I also needs Stats, Height, Weight, Age, Length of your Legs...if you know off-hand. A list of any previous sports-related injuries also wouldn't hurt, oh and whether or not either of you ran Track or Cross in HS or College...that'd be helpful.

All you're going to get is old man vs. young buck.

Strictly a one night stand. Already 2 weeks behind as full time student due to my Baltimore nightmare.

It's widely known that you like to hike. I also Googled your name AND "Track," but it turns out that there is a horse whose name is your last name, so that didn't help out even remotely.
Maybe Nick'sGamingStuff can give us some info on himself. That woud help. We've seen enough pictures of you to know you're in good shape, but one-mile is short enough of a distance that this is going to be more about speed than endurance. You're 47 years old, I believe, and being 28 I already know that I don't have the limited speed that I once had...
I'm still hesitant to lay against you, though, we don't know anything about The Kid. He might weigh 300lbs, but then again, he might be an All-State track star as of four years ago.
Gaming nerds are my kind of people, no offense intended.
