I've explained how having a nice podcast to listen to while working out eases my exercise routine. Unfortunately I'm running out.

It took me a while to catch up to Gambling with an Edge, but I'm caught up now. Ditto the two other podcasts I listen to: Philosophy in Action (hosted by Dr. Diana Hsieh) and El Explicador (a top-notch science show hosted by Enrique Ganem).

One problem is that I don't listen to these shows only while working out. Take "El Explicador," for example. It's a one-hour podcast daily five days a week, but it's also what I listen to in my way to and from work. I'll also play them on long road trips undertaken for business, and when I'm stuck somehwere and have nothing else to do (like at the airport, or on flights).

So I wonder if anyone knows of any good podcasts out there. I'd be interested mostly in science, gambling, but would give a fair hearing to other topics. I'd preffer free podcasts, but I'd be willing to pay for good quality.

Thanks

Every day I look forward to "Handel on demand" podcast. It is the morning show on 640 AM in LA which you might even be able to hear on the radio in Mexico as it is a 50,000 watt station. It is the most listened to local talk show in the nation. Try the 5am hour and Handel on the News segments. Bill Handel is the host and he also has a weekly show called "handel on the law" where callers ask him legal questions and he gives "marginal legal advice" (Bill is an attorney).

I also reccomend a podcast called "The Cash Daddy", an infomercial for a short term loan place but very very funny, starring Tim Conway Jr.

Finally, you might enjoy Free Talk Live, as I have noticed you have libertarian leanings.

All of these are free on iTunes.

If you're into science, Scientific American magazine has one called, 60 Second Science. It's a great show, but, unfortunately, it's very accurately titled. They put out one podcast per day, and they are almost always just over a minute long.

For what it's worth, I value the audio quality almost as much as the content. That said, I find many podcasts that seem good based upon description, but are totally un-listenable.

Fortunately, although the Bob's audio quality isn't great, Mike's audio, as well as that of the guests, are generally good, so I enjoy Gambling With An Edge.

Those are the only two podcasts I regularly subscribe to. Anybody else got any suggestions?

Bill Simmons "BS Report" Podcasts are excellent for Sports and Pop Culture. Download for free on I-Tunes or Espn.com.

Personally I enjoy Adam Carolla and listen to his daily podcast, although it's not for everyone. He can be at different times offensive to almost anyone listening except for the rich white guys like him :). Even I get offended sometimes, but I just try not to take it seriously. If you've enjoyed his previous work on the Man Show, Loveline, or his previous morning radio show (which replaced Stern in a lot of west-coast terrestrial radio markets), you'll probably like it.

This reminds me of Les Luthiers' "El Vals del Segundo." The explanation of how a musical piece came to be written takes up 20 minutes or so of explanations, puns, jokes and irony. The piece takes one second to play :)

Interesting observation....

I've had some major differences of opinion with some so-called Libertarians in the apst. It's amazing how they can rationalize all too many things. But at least they're less vocal about it than Objectivists when they let their emotions do their thinking for them.

I'll take a lok at it. But, you know, it's too bad John Stossel doesn't have a podcast out.
