Following the Scuttlebutt on Onstar?

Some folks are worrying about Onstar spying on them (it has the total capability to do this); others are poo-pooing it.
Apparently the FBI got a little vigorous and got slapped down.
I got a confirmation from a friend who has Onstar and XM radio both (came with car) and he says it's pretty clear they monitor what you listen to on XM and give the information to marketing groups. He is getting mail that can only be explained that way. He didnt seem to be aware of the controversy.
