Do you think it should have the thank you option for only every other post? Or just RNG selected posts?
Does Facebook or Twitter cause suspensions with their like buttons?

The loaded magic 8 ball likes this idea.

No that sounds silly.

I have no knowledge about either site as I am not a member.
I disagree. The feature allows members to simply and positively acknowledge a post without generating yet another post. It is a mechanism successfully used by many other social media sites. I am glad a negative acknowledgement function (aka “thumb down”) is not provided, as I think that would cause feces to enter the ventilation system. I don’t see how using the thank you option would indirectly lead to a suspension, except in the case of clearly abusive use, e.g. excessive use. I don’t think the availability of the option encourages division amongst members; if anything, it puts a damper on that by not having words accompany the expression.Quote: BoSoxIn my opinion, if anything I believe it encourages divisions for members by forming alliances for and against each other. Thumb up for like, and a different finger up for dislike?
I think ownership won't go for that.

If a data analyst were to attempt to develop "smart stats" for this site, he would probably conclude that Mission is the worst poster and least popular person in the forum. Why? Because the only posts in WOV that receive ZERO "Thank You's" are his.

I am the worst poster and least popular person on the forum, so the conclusion remains valid, if not the methodology.

I appreciate the compliment, but not even close to the best. In theory, I’ll have some articles coming up soon. On tap:
Two Gambling Book Reviews
A Review of a Gambling Nintendo Switch Game
Craps Etiquette w/Alan Mendelson
Betting Systems and Alcoholism Compared
Probably a few others, but I don’t recall at this precise moment and my notebook is at home.

will this include a discussion of how wild you're allowed to get when you parlay at least 7 times when the inevitable happens
of course, I'm talking about:

I am not sure about it causing division or leading to suspensions anymore than any other interaction, I think this would be hard to prove (I can't think of any clear examples). And, even if true, I think the benefits outweigh the negatives. Even without a "thank you" button people would naturally side with certain people, they would just do it through posts.
Quote: GandlerI think its a good system. It allows you to acknowledge that you read somebody's reply without taking up another post. Before it there were a lot of "thank you" and "yes" type posts that clogged threads, I guess just for people to show that they read and/or agree.

I agree. The thank you button has saved me many suspensions. I have read a post, wanted to go off on the author for being an idiot and instead of typing that, just used the "Thank You" button on someone who did it before me..
They get the suspension. I get to hang around.
Plus, I like Mission a lot. If we got rid of the "Thank You" button, we'd see a lot less of him!
