It takes about thirty or more seconds to load anything, from log on to switching between threads.
While processing the request, a message about "performing a tls handshake with wizardofodds.com" is displayed.
This has been going on for awhile now: why can't it be fixed?

Seemed like it was fixed for most of the last week as the server migration was completed, but starting about 1pm board time, it became sluggish and timing out again. I'm not involved in that end of things, so have no answers for you.

Lots of random people following Vegas links today, I imagine.

I visit 30+ sites on an almost daily basis and this is by far the worst. There is no way an online casino would run a site like this so it shows where we rank on the list of priorities. Probably rightfully so from a revenue standpoint.

Maybe, but I thought this site was hosted together with WOO, which is probably the most highly trafficked gambling info site on the net. They seem to have issues concurrently.
One would think that investing 1M+ in a website would be some motivation to keep it working properly.

You would think but obviously the technology is not there. Or is priced out of the reach of these guys. Or is just not a priority, which makes one wonder what their "independent " priorities are?
all reported issues should be now fixed:

Thanks for the work. I am still timing out loading about every third page, and those that load take 30 seconds at a minimum, most 45-60 seconds.
I'm using an Android phone, latest OS, strong wifi connection at 50mps. This is the only site that doesn't load in less than 1 sec.
The site was moving well Monday, but went sluggish again on Tuesday, and continues to now.
It’s been that rollercoaster for days now.
Rollercoaster is accurate. Every time I think you've been successful, the site starts to lag and timeout again. Hope this pinpoint helps identify the issue.
I'm gone til later. Frustrating.

but up till a few minutes ago, lots of timeouts.

Not to me. Previously, mail service connections were initiated then dropped due to DNS issues. Now... nothing.Quote: miroslavlavHi all,

Not to ruffle anyone’s feathers, but this has been going on for several weeks now. People are going to start moving on to other sites if it isn’t resolved soon.
Quote: tringlomaneRough for me too at times tonight. I thought this site moved providers? :(
It did but I think it's worse after the move. It has been a little better for me tonight.

Now, if anyone can explain how to use the symbols for spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs in posts, it would be much appreciated.
Also, is it possible to use any mathematical symbols beyond the ones that are on keyboards?

Idk why I can't have a cents symbol. Wanted one for many years. Oh, well. The whole capability is a modern miracle.

Fixed. Seems to have been done easily by changing the Sender field for mail from "www-data@ip-172-31-2-75" to "no-reply@wizardofodds.com".Quote: BleedingChipsSlowlyNot to me. Previously, mail service connections were initiated then dropped due to DNS issues. Now... nothing.
Quote: beachbumbabsSame here. Timeout every load, 2 to 3 minutes loading per page.
Currently almost totally unworkable, replying to posts without first copying to clipboard is like russian roulette with 5 bullets.
Server does not reply to pings which may be by design, albeit not best practice or desirable.
This is nothing to do with denial of service. It's a flaw in the site.
Frequently get partial load that seems to seize up just after the static top of the page loads. More frequently just don't get a page returned at all.

That takes many seconds.

Same here except 4 years. Participants dropping like flies, guys. Please fix the load issue.
Tried 4 page loads. 3 timed out at least once. All took more than 1 min. Laterz...

If the site were a neck, I'd have to assume we're being strangled -- but slowly. Little oxygen, then strangle.
I'm used to slow connections (grew up before 110 baud), so spend a few minutes on other websites (or watch TV) in between all my WoV actions.
it's nit to do things in REAL-TIME...like now, when the site is working.
Quote: mamatI'm used to slow connections (grew up before 110 baud)...
No problem with slow connections here also. Haven't heard reference to 110 baud in close to forever. But, my 1978 suitcase-size terminal with telephone cradle and thermal paper (no video screen) was durn exciting in its day.
I'm sure the Admins are doing their best to get WoV problems fixed. No one said fixing everything would be easy or quickly done. I appreciate those posts where members report specifics (like TLS delays and character-set problems) that help me (and hopefully also help the Admins).
Another possible vector for the WoV computer problems:
I was very involved in computer security in the 1990s (up through Y2K), and frequently attended a variety of security-oriented briefings. I recall one IBM presenter who was an international security wizard. He commented that some eastern European countries trained computer students to hack into network systems and the then-nascent Internet world. Student's grades depended on the degree to which they compromised someone's computer system. Even recently a professor at the University of Michigan testified to Congress that he and his students hacked into numerous less-than-secure state voting systems (not to disrupt, but to alert election officials).
Most folks realize there is currently an ongoing international cyber-war, where it's everybody against everybody. I'd like to suggest that the WoV problems may be compounded by unknown, external third-party interferrence, whether it's a foreign power trying to affect Amazon or whether it is some student trying to impress her/his professor. Our Admins might never know. It's a jungle out there.
Quote: Mikey75Can we get a response from someone that runs the site concerning the speed? If anyone has posted about that I've missed it. A estimation of the time it would be fixed or even a acknowledgement that it's being worked on would help.
Jokingly: Maybe they can't get on the site to respond?
Seriously: This is a good point. To repeat: Can we get a response from someone that runs the site concerning the speed? An estimation of the time it would be fixed or even an acknowledgement that it's being worked on would help.
It seems like Babs and Mission are the only admins that have even posted on the site for the past month. (Maybe Face has posted occasionally?) Why are the Wizard and J.B. absent? What is going on? Has the WOV forum had a zombie apocalypse?
