Define "try".
I'm getting my feet wet with the sponsorship of my race team, and it's bloody maddening. It's no after no after excuse after excuse. We know how much we'll get if we stop trying. But who knows how much we'll get if we don't.

I can relate to that. I tried and tried and tried. It took me 3 years and winning a championship before I got a few. One of which gave me tires for the season. It saved me about $1900 that year.

What about a link to a gaming products site? Cards, chips, dice...all of that stuff?

Anthony Curtis' Las Vegas Advisor links to every hotel on the Strip, plus shows, airfare and restaurants.

Unless you get a straight media buy, the affiliate programs of MGM and sites like Travelocity pay 3-4%. The cookies tend to last only about 2-3 months (so if they go back and get a room 4 months later after their click they are not tracked to you anymore) and you generally only get a share of the first purchase. In other words, you do not retain rev share on these visitors forever. The CPA, when someone actually converts, is going to be about $20+/-.
Perhaps LVA gets media buy ad space. I feel certain that is how LVRJ and other news sites get paid.
The traffic on this site is highly targeted, even if the gamblers are more educated than average, the traffic has value.

You'd be surprised. But then, you've been around the world a few times yourself, so maybe not.

Would you date a guy that: drives x car. list the cars and have them rate them as to what care they would most likely date a guy if he were driving it driving.
I'm not sure but im sure it could be done.
Note: what about links to gambling merchandise site such as that post the other day about a five thousand dollar baccarat watch. ( I think its under betting systems).

Teach juicejen to host the video and teach games and I bet the view count x10 or more. Gotta have the best image on the splash screen to bring viewers in.
Most likely, just a fact, it will work.
edit - if it appears to get warm and clothing is removed while teaching x 100 views increase. Lots of subscribes.

This may 15th announcement may aid Cyprus banking.
"n particular, privatisation and modernisation of public utilities and infrastructure have largely stalled. Standards of governance and supervision in the banking sector need significant improvement.
Although performing well under the Troika programme, the short-term macroeconomic outlook for Cyprus remains challenging. The economy is expected to contract again in 2014. Modest growth is expected to return in 2015, but downside risks are significant. Unemployment is likely to continue rising for some time. "

Big account holders in Cyprus's two largest lenders were forced to take a hit as part of an international bailout for Cyprus last year and private sector deposits at all banks on the island had been broadly declining since June 2012.
In March, private-sector deposits at Cypriot banks rose by 0.5 percent to 34.6 billion euros ($47.90 billion) from the previous month, European Central Bank data showed on Tuesday. The deposits are about 32 percent below their peak of 50.5 billion euros in May 2012.
Banks in the euro zone member state were shut for nearly two weeks last March after Cyprus agreed a 10-billion-euro bailout under which major depositors had to pay part of the cost of the rescue. Capital controls are still in place, with limits on how much people can transfer from their accounts, although Cyprus is gradually easing the restrictions.

Here in Belgium, local banks are asking Americans to close their accounts. The culprit is the FACTA agreement imposed by the US govt on foreign banks, whose general idea is to work against fraud and fiscal evasion. Banks have to set up so much paperwork and verifications that they lose money on accounts held by American nationals. I know Americans residing in Brussels who are at a loss what to do. One even had a Belgian prête-nom open an account for her.Quote: WizardYou try to find a foreign bank account, as a US citizen, with less than a million dollars and see what few s**t banks will take your money.
Now, Cyprus was known as a place of money laundering for Russian millionaires. Not being a financial specialist, I would stick to "normal" "clean reputation" bank systems. (Whatever that means...)
The EU guarantees up to €100,000. Try not to put more in a single country.
Excellent, had not seen that one before.Quote: kubikulannprête-nom
I also am confused with it. The black background is making some things hard to read. I have problems finding what I'm looking for. The result is, I go less often.
But, importantly: I think that if I were to discover it today, I would probably not have sticked and returned. Too bad !

Sorry, I don't know the equivalent in English. This is standard in French.Quote: chickenmanExcellent, had not seen that one before.
EDIT: My dictionary says "figurehead". I think this is only for people heading a company (which is one of the meanings of prête-nom), but not someone who 'lends' his 'name' like here.

Didn't ever want to tell you that Mr. Wizard, but since you may want to monetize the site a bit of cosmetic improvement might help.
And went went where to get the information you were looking for? You would have ended right back at the site.Quote: kubikulannAbout the WoOdds site:

Sorry to hear about your dad. My condolences to you and your family. As for banking internationally, since you are fully disclosing it, I believe you might be able to reflect a loss on your taxes here in the states. That's worth looking into since you had to writedown savings during the banking crisis overseas. Personally, I would have stuck with a major international bank that has brick and mortar both in the states and internationally (JPMorgan, HSBC, etc).
The main thing is to get your money back. Physically going there seems to be an interesting proposal. Showing up at a branch and making an on-demand withdrawal could result in 2 possibilities. You get your money back or they deny you in person. The latter would be horrific. I would first try the ATM and then go to a teller:

Capital restrictions remain in place for all foreign accounts, but should normalize sometime this year. After all, the country was a haven for a lot of foreign money. They're protecting their own citizens first.
Is it possible to cash in equity on the investment properties in the interim? Not exactly the best way to get liquidity....

Some constructive comments on WoO:
At least on my computer, the opening page has a lot of blank dark gray margin on both sides. Could that space be used more effectively ? I also think it might help to have something in large font on the home page that says something like:
"Welcome to The Wizard of Odds"
or
"Expert Information on Leveling the Playing Field inside a Casino"
or
"Your Free On-line Resource to Learn what the Casino Knows"
or
"Everything you Should Know before Playing in a Casino"
or
"Real Strategies based on Real Math Explained for Real People"
or something like that to help convey why someone new should explore the site further. Are there any reference quotes from a recognizable source that endorse the great information on the site that could be displayed front and center ?
or Information for the Professional and Amateur Gambler.

Meanwhile, my US funds are running dangerously low. If the Bank of Cyprus doesn't make good on my withdrawal soon I will have to seriously consider selling my house and/or my sites. Add to all this that my father died on April 25. I just don't know what I'm going to do.
Really hate to hear this. This site has many loyal fans and followers, and I'd speculate that the majority would be willing to pay a modest monthly subscription rate, which would generate thousands in monthly revenue. How risky would that be in terms of maintaining advertisers?

I've thought about doing something like what VideoPoker.com does, where they have ads you're forced to watch unless you buy a premium membership. I would also try to think of some other stuff extra stuff I could give the VIP members, but I'm not sure what.
If I get get the Cyprus money in the next 30 days I should be okay to buy more time to get advertising revenue up. There are plenty of sites much worse that min, in my opinion, that make much more money. My problem is monetizing the traffic.
Same content. Just lots of hotel and casino adds about an inch square.
Quote: WizardThings are looking a little better on the Cyprus front. Of course, I won't believe anything until the money is in one of my US accounts, but the guy there said I could put in a wire request for most of my money. Now let's just hope they honor it.
Good to hear. Nothing is more frustrating than honest people who work hard getting screwed for XYZ reason (usually getting back to the government...but I digress).

This sound like a pretty good idea. I would worry about getting quality impressions/clicks in the non-VIP section, but I guess there are probably a lot of cheap folks out there!
