This answers why the church is so anti-abortion; because if you abort the baby, there's nothing to steal.
Quote:Having heard about a nun at the Santa Cristina clinic in Madrid who helped women in her situation, she met with Sor María, and then, entering the clinic once she went into labor, called on her again. "After the delivery she told me my daughter had died," Torres told the press. "Then she said that the baby had been given to another family. And she threatened me that if I didn't go along with it, she would tell the authorities that I was an adultress, and they would take away my other child as well."
Have fun posting.....I will continue to read and laugh ;)
good to know.
eat your soup...
Quote: WongBoso if you aren't a papist or a "christian" you're an atheist?
good to know.

Actually, we're the ones sitting on the chaise lounge on Sunday morning, reading the New York Times, saying "meh."
Militant?
That would assume we really G.A.S.
Hear!!Hear!!. (The latest I heard is that the Catholic Church is so profitable, it has to be Jewish owned).Quote: IbeatyouracesThe only cult I am in is the one that consistantly beats the casino out of money. Religion, christianity, the catholic church or whatever is the largest man made scam ever. Case closed.

FrG has as much said here that its whats in the
Churches intent that really counts, not the
actions of those in power. This explains away
trivialities like the Inquisition, apparently..
Quote: MoscaMy intent was to point out the hypocrisy. What is said and written is completely the opposite of what actually happens. And then there is supposed to be some moral high ground conceded to the church, as if words and ideas are more important than deeds.
Over Easter we just started a sister parish relationship with a Church in Vietnam. It is a collection of five Churches in the Central Highlands working with the minority population there. They also have an orphanage. I wonder what would happen if I shared with you all the amazing and good work they do for children there who have no one to love them. Would you think how wonderful the Church is in the same magnitude this one awful example has caused you to remark that this is, "what actually happens"?!? Come on Mosca I know you know better, I have come to accept some of the crazy stuff EvenBob says, but not from you.

Watched Modern Marvels last night, it was about
torture devices. They said nobody in history can
hold a candle to the ingenuity of the Catholic Church
in coming up with the torture devices of the Inquisition.
Terrific good and horrendous evil seem to go hand in
hand in Christianity. I'm sure its crystal clear to
FrG, but its rather appalling to us non believers.

Father: can't you see? It isn't the Church that is doing good. Or evil. It is the people. The Church is immaterial. People will do good or evil regardless. If I just chose good church people doing good things, or bad secular people doing bad things, there would be no point to be made. Separate the Church out. Pretend it doesn't exist. Then you will have the good and the bad anyhow. The Church doesn't make any difference.

I would mostly likely wonder how many of the male orphans were being molested by the priests....
That is the track record in these types of cases.
Vulnerable children + catholic priests = homosexual pedophilia
The church is dying here, and would have dried up if not for the influx of Spanish speaking folk.
They have to import priests from other countries: not enough American men care to take the vow.
Smart men: there may be money in milking the superstitious, but there is dang little intrinsic value in it.
Quote: MrVThe good priest is yapping about doings overseas because that is where the action is: not in America.
