My wife and I went to Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome, Sorrento & Capri) for our honeymoon last year (2011). While in Venice, which is absolutely breathtaking (the whole city is on water), we went for a walk late at night and saw a "Boat Stop" sign for Casino Di Venezia, I convinced my wife (who hates gambling) that we should wait at the Boat Stop for a few minutes and see what happens. A few minutes later, a speed boat arrived and whisked us 5 minutes away to the Casino which is only accessible by boat as is most of the city. It was the most amazing entry into a Casino I have ever seen; I felt like James Bond!

Casino Di Venezia looks similar to another casino we visited while vacationing in Europe in 2009; Grand Casino Luzern in Lucerne, Switzerland. Casino Di Venezia offers (Blackjack, Roulette, Caribbean Stud Poker, Texas Hold'em Poker, Slot Machines, Punto Banco, etc) Sadly they do not have Craps. My wife hit her lucky number in Roulette on her first try and was very happy with her 175 Euro Payout on her 5 Euro bet.

All of the Casino players were very well dressed (Suits, Tuxedos, Cocktail Dresses, etc). Foreigners need a passport to gain access to the Casino. I have to rank Casino Di Venezia as the one of the most exquisite casinos I have played in my life. If you are ever in Venice, Italy....make sure to stop there for a visit.

Thanks for the review. Classiness is one thing that's sadly lacking in most, if not all, of the casinos in this great country of ours.

I did a 7 week trek through Europe last year and sadly didn't plan ahead well enough to hit many casinos. I only spent a day in Venice and missed this one, although I'm pretty sure I went past it on my last water-bus ride back to the train station.

Isn't that the oldest continuously-operating casino in the world?

Yes. They opened in 1638.

WOW, the place looked amazing! I had no idea it was 373 years old when we visited in 2011.

The Speedboat drops you right in front of the entrance per the photo WongBo posted above. It's a lot cooler than hopping on the greyhound to Atlantic City in my younger days...LOL.

Were you dressed up, or did you have to use the "house" jacket?

I just looked at our honeymoon pics. We were kinda dressed up but we definitely looked like typical Americans.

While visiting London, I had a hard time dealing with the fact that a building erected 400 years before my COUNTRY was established, was home to the equivalent of a "7-11" market. When the music produced in the 1960's is known as "oldies", and the 1970's is called "classic", it is clear that America has a near sighted view of history.
