I went to Trump Plaza because it is closest to the bus station,
(not counting Caesars or Bally; I am boycotting Caesar's/Harrah for their greedy business practices).
I decided to hang out in the little high limit/ Asian games room and play pai gow tiles, pai gow poker and midi bac.
The tiles and poker were $20 so there were no quarters in the commission,
which moves the game faster, and is just smarter. The midi bac was $50.
The pit staff were all really pleasant and the Heineken was flowing freely.
After a few hours I went down to the beach to get some air.
I decided to go over to the Trop, which is the next casino "downbeach" as they say.
I have always had a good time at Trop and have been going there since it open in '81.
I have to say after the shabby treatment I got there, I will never go back!
Firstly, the tiles dealers were just short of hostile.
I think one of them even referred to me as GWEILO
The tables were $25 which is annoying because of the quarters.
The worst part for me was that they wouldn't even give me Heineken.
I had about two or three an hour at Trump, no problem.
At Trop, they would only "comp" me one Heineken after I played for about thirty minutes.
I was extremely vocal to everyone there about my feelings.
I told them in no uncertain terms that they had just lost a thirty year customer and that
I would do everything in my power to make sure they would lose more..
So...
Please, do not waste any time or money patronizing that dump.
What a cheap, second-rate shit hole that place has become.
Sorry for your experience.
In fact, the boardwalk casinos as a group are my least favorite casinos. And the Tropicana is at the bottom of those. Not much else to say.
Interesting.Quote: s2dbakerIn two hours, you can make reservations for the new Revel hotel. It opens in one month.
They had a cool splash screen a couple hours ago (prior to noon), but now, at 12:15 EST, the site doesn't come up at all!
Whoa! Catastrophic web incompetence! If you make an announcement that you can book online st at date and time certain, then you had better be sure it works first.Quote: DJTeddyBearInteresting.Quote: s2dbakerIn two hours, you can make reservations for the new Revel hotel. It opens in one month.

Tell that to the folks at Caesars Total Rewards IT and consumer service who have been monkeying around with their Web site and their new "contest" for a couple of weeks now. All to disastrous non-results.
Interestingly, this morning, www.revel.com would redirect to the same page. Ever since noon, that page comes up blank.
ouch! Sounds like they need me in Las Vegas :)Quote: SanchoPanzaTell that to the folks at Caesars Total Rewards IT and consumer service who have been monkeying around with their Web site and their new "contest" for a couple of weeks now. All to disastrous non-results.

Couldn't hurt. (No left-handed complement intended!) Was able to get through to them on the phone just a while ago and to spare others the trouble, we're told that they had a meeting this afternoon and that they might restore their systems by midweek at the earliest. Lotsa luck. Imagine running a craps table that way!!!!
Go start your own damn thread if you want to talk about REVEL or Caesars (aka Sleezers)...
I will just mention how much the Trop sucks whenever a thread comes up
That talks about cheapness, unprofessional behavior, dirty restrooms,
Smokiness, lowlife clientele, bad dealers, stupid boxmen, incompetent management,
Casinos that are likely tto lose their license,or the general decline of AC
On November 20, 2007 the New Jersey Casino Control Commission initiated hearings for the renewal of the casino license of Tropicana and whether its parent companies, Adamar of New Jersey and Columbia Sussex, were suitable to hold a casino license. On December 12, 2007, the Casino Control Commission denied the application of renewal for Tropicana. The commission cited the management's "abysmal" regulatory compliance as well as a "lack of business ability... financial responsibility... and a lack of good character, honesty, and integrity." The property was immediately placed under the control of a trustee, former New Jersey State Supreme Court Justice Gary Stein, until it could be sold. This was only the second time in twenty-nine years that the commission denied a license renewal.Lawyers were expected to appeal.
The bankruptcy sale of the Tropicana Casino and Resort to a group of creditors led by Carl Icahn was approved by a bankruptcy court on June 12, 2009. The acquisition exchanged $200 million of the property's mortgage for equity. On August 26, 2009, the New Jersey Casino Control Commission approved Tropicana Entertainment as the property's new owner. The Commission stressed that the new owner is not the same company as the former owner, Tropicana Entertainment LLC. The decision enabled the property to operate under the same corporate umbrella as other Tropicana properties in Nevada, Mississippi, Louisiana and Indiana. Tropicana Entertainment Inc. was granted a temporary casino license by the Commission on March 3, 2010. The sale closed on March 8, 2010.
Hey new management, your casino sucks and I hope you all lose your jobs when your lousy casino goes belly up.
A fourth Heinekin? I doubt they thought you were tipsy, they just probably are cheap.
Best thing ever is to vote with your feet.
Meanwhile Trump was happy to bring me Heinekens and Amaretto cappuccinos all night without a word.

Well, hoping that Trump Plaza survives in the long run, it seems like the former Hilton, the Plaza, and the Golden Nugget are in a race for the bottom of the AC revenue. Figures that I don't mind two of them, and haven't checked out the Hilton yet.
I'm always happy playing tiles at the Borgata - it never seems to be crowded and is always a $20 table as well.
To sidetrack - it doesn't look like Revel will offer tiles, but then again, they have said food and clubs are their priority. Gambling is 3rd on their list.

It's partially Revel's fault for their catastrophic web fail which was high-larry-us!!
If you want to go play there go right ahead.
Maybe you like piss warm swill beer, your prerogative.
I will play where I get what I want.
If you aren't taking full advantage of every angle you are just a sucker.

Tropicana is being ridiculous! So, if you don't spend the same amount of money that you spent your first time, they cut your offers? That is scum of them! So if someone was financially secure enough to play $10,000 their first trip, and their second trip they can only play $1,000 Tropicana will cut their offers because they can't afford to play $10,000 this time? That is just plain bad and shady customer appreciation!
