Was the casino busy when you played? I'm surprised they had 3 roulette
wheels, were they ever all open at once? How was the food overall, you
didn't say.

The poker table opened around 8:00. From about 9:30 to 12:00 there would be a wait list. And, as I mentioned in Day 2, that night they opened a second poker table - using an unused BJ table.

The 3 Roulette tables were often all open with action during the evening.

Yeah, overall it was busy. Sometimes, there were no seats available at BJ, although there was always at least one BJ table not open.

Actually, I did mention the food overall, in the middle of my Day 3 post:

Note that I'm not really talking much about the food. Yeah, there were a couple items that totally missed the mark, but for the most part, it was very good, with many of the menu options changing every day. The most exotic thing I tried was Peach Soup. It was served cold, and tasted kinda like a thick version of the juice in a can of peaches. I liked it.

My wife says she won't go on a cruise because one of
her friends from work took sea sickness medicine
and so did here daughter. The daughter was suffering
from vertigo when they returned 2 months ago and
still is and the doctor told her it might never go away.

I don't see anything wrong with that video poker jackpot. While low for a progressive, $1166 is still higher than the base $1000 (4000 credits) jackpot for max coin play in quarters.

Those towel animals are a hoot! I bet the stewards see a pretty good increase in tips from those.

Thanks for the epic report.

Nice write up DJ. You captured the first time cruise quite well. Here are some highlights from my cruise experiences:

I've been on 5 cruises, 2 RC , 1 Celebrity, 1 Carnival, and 1 Princess. I am not aware of any medical emergencies on any of the cruises we have been on. I'm sure they do happen quite a bit, but my experience is quite different from yours. The worst I have seen was a bad storm hit the Gulf on our way back to Tampa. The ship was REALLY rocking. Going back to the cabin from dinner, I had to keep a hand on the wall just to walk down the corridor. Later, I was trying to play craps, and the table kept jumping out of the way of the dice. At breakfast the next morning, our server told me that over 30% of the crew had gotten sick.

I am not a musical type, but we went to karaoke one night on the RC cruise. Most of the singers were pretty good, there were a lot of people signed up, and the club was rocking. 11:00 PM hit and they pulled the plug. The place went dead in a heartbeat. It was the craziest thing. A LOT of alcohol sales walked out the door within 5 minutes. I understand the need for structure and time tables that must be kept, to keep things on track. I also understand that the crew all have many different roles they fill, and the karaoke crew may have had another task to get to. HOWEVER, it also seems to me that the ship would have some kind of contingency plan that they could invoke to keep the party, and the alcohol sales, going strong. I bet that crowd would have gone until 3:00 AM that night easy. That is a lot of sales.

The few number of the midnight buffets, or even night pool deck parties has always baffled me. They always seem well attended, and they have been fun. I wish they would do them more often.

On one cruise, RC had an 'ADULT' game night in the lounge. Had to be over 18, and they did try and police it at the door. It wasn't too risque, but it was interesting. There were 5 or 6 teams of 3 guys and 3 gals on stage. They would be given a task, and then they would run around the audience to complete the task.
They collected things like shoes, and belts, and some answers. Then they we given the task to switch shirts within the team, so the guys had on the gals shirts. Two teams quit. LOL. One girl had no inhibitions, but the rest all put on the guys shirt first and then made the swap underneath.
The last task they had was to bring back as may bras as they could get from the audience. That was hilarious as guys were begging girls they didn't even know to give them their bras, with people sitting around them trying to convince them too. There were more bras collected then I would have guessed. I was surprised this occurred on an RC cruise though. While there really was nothing lewd that occurred, I thought it was pretty risque for RC. It was by far the most laughs I have had at any cruise show, bar none!

I enjoy cruising. I definitely seem to remember things that happened on various cruises more so than I do from regular vacations.

Maybe it's me since I don't play much video poker. I would have expected the payout for five coins to be at least five times the payout for one coin.

Thanks for the epic report.

Thanks.

Thanks. Put six days into it and write over 50K of raw text and it damn well BETTER be a good report. LOL

I totally agree with you but I also understand. The attitude is to move you to the next activity so the staff stay on schedule. There's booze available at the next venue. Plus the crew working karaoke might be expected somewhere else.

On a side note, because it was mentioned in another thread:

All the photos were taken on my iPhone 3.

This one reply was done on my iPhone too. It wasn't easy, but certainly doable.

Speaking of that, for some reason I don't see any photos in this thread, not even links to larger versions.

Is it possible you missed the entire review?

I broke it up into 9 entries. Maybe you didn't even see page 1 of this thread. There are over 50 thumbnail photos that link to hi-res versions.

If I did there was a lot of inexplicable prose about cruises, towel animals and people dropping dead on the trip.

The trip report is there. I believe you posted photos, too, I just can't see them. Page 1 takes a long time to load, but no photos. i can see photos in other threads just fine.

All I can figure is the my web host was down when you were reading it. Check page 1 again.

FYI: The photos are on my DJTeddyBear.com website. It's supposed to have a 99.9% up time, but....

Either that or your browser isn't loading them since there are a lot of photos.

Still nothing. Your website isn't loading either. Firefox just says it's taking too long to respond.

Not that I mind, you understand. I'm sure you can guess what I think about vacation photos <w>.
