The shooting happened at about 1 a.m. at Michigan Avenue and The Boardwalk near Ballys Casino.
According to investigators, the incident began as a fight between approximately 15 people. Police say nearly 100 people were near the brawl. As officers were attempting to break up the crowd, a suspect pulled out a gun and opened fire.
A 17-year-old male from Vineland and a 22-year-old male from Bridgeton were wounded in the shooting. The 17-year-old was shot in the left leg and the second victim was shot in the upper chest. The 17-year-old victim was treated at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and later released. The 22-year-old was also taken to AtlantiCare and was still being examined early Tuesday morning. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police say the suspect fled the scene after the shooting. A gun believed to have been used in the shooting was located at the Ballys bus terminal.
What has this to do with the "Special Tourism District"?Quote: SanchoPanzaThe shooting happened at about 1 a.m...

This sounds like a typical fight outside of any bar or club that escalated to the point where there was a shooting.
I hadn't heard anything a Special Taxation District ,, er uh.. Special Tourism District but "shootings" and "tourism" are usually incompatible for about two weeks.Quote: DJTeddyBearWhat has this to do with the "Special Tourism District"?

Everything. That was what Christie supposed to do to supplant Mayor Langford and send in the state troopers. The city is basically out of control, thanks to its own inherent problems (Illinois Ave. for example) and now seems to be suffering from the a strong dose of the same uncontrollable rioting and crime that has been going on in Philadelphia and its suburbs for the last three months. This isn't even like the shooting inside the Bally's restroom off the casino floor a couple of months ago. This is when Park Place goes, you can throw out your Monopoly board.

You'll probably be given the Claridge.
i'd sooner drive home to Long Island and sleep in my own bed.Quote: SanchoPanzaYou'll probably be given the Claridge.

Yes, and don't forget all the stray cats living under the boardwalk.

That is a total farce. Instead of relocating them, the authorities feed them and spay them. Sort of just as they do with the homeless living under the Boardwalk.

I've actually seen this and got to play with one late one Tuesday night (like 3 AM Wednesday morning) . Those cats are the most loving wild animals you'd ever see. They know where they get their food and they like the scratches. As long as you're not aggressive to them, they eat up the attention (and food from the cops).
As usual time got away from me and found myself on the boardwalk after a successful craps run at Caesars around 12.30am. Looked around, and I might add I am not a guy who worries about shadows and such, but, a few unsavory characters, extremely dark boardwalk and thought, "Were the heck is the Taxi stand"? I might add, the tip was more than the fare. The funny thing is 10 years ago ( i'm now 55 ) I would have had not premanitions about hiking down a dark, lonely AC boarwalk. Funny how times change.....
