I can drive about 45 miles to the Westchester airport for a free ride on a VIP Charter Plane. Or to one of three locations nearby for a free Luxury Bus Trip to Harrah's. Both offers include two free nights.
Teterboro is not an option, but it's only 20 miles from home, and has the added benefit of not having to deal with potential traffic or tolls to cross the Hudson River.
What the heck is Harrah's thinking? Don't they understand how inconvenient those origins are to ANYONE who lives in Northern New Jersey?
The reality is, if we were to cross the Hudson to go to a casino, we'd continue on to Mohegan Sun.
Of course, lately, we've been driving to Sands PA - it's only 77 miles. By contrast, A.C. is 145 miles from home.
Google Map with these locations tagged.

Similar ignorance and arrogance afflicted the ACES Gamblers' Express train from New York to Atlantic City. The geniuses set up the lone intermediate stop in downtown Newark, as if people driving nice cars and carrying even a small wad of cash are going to navigate the streets and station in the capital of car theft at any time, not to mention the basic evening and night hours of the service (if it starts again).
Quote: DJTeddyBearWe occasionally get these same stupid offers from Harrah's Atlantic City.

Yeahhhh. Are there people who would really ever go to AC if they could go to CT or Sands or Mt. Airy instead? I guess maaaaaaybe in the summer, the coast would have some appeal. But I bet they target the promo to off-peak times and won't offer it during the summer...
Hmmm.... I hadn't bothered to look before now.Quote: rdw4potusBut I bet they target the promo to off-peak times and won't offer it during the summer...
The bus is once a month, all on the same week. Sun - Tue from the two NY locations, Mon - Wed from CT.
The plane is every two weeks, Fri - Sun! One of the weekends is Memorial Day weekend. But even that is still Fri - Sun!

I didn't catch that one of these options was a plane until now (I do see now that you said it before...). Who flies 150 miles? It's got to take almost 2 hours to clear security, board, taxi, fly, taxi, deplane, and then get to the bus to drive the 20 miles from the AC airport to actual AC.
I'll watch my promos more closely now, but I bet they want me to go to Laughlin in July, Reno in October/April, and AC In January. I can't help but notice that Caesars has no interest in helping me with travel to Mississippi or Vegas...
Yeah, wandering around Newark with cash ... real sensible. Particularly if slightly sloshed on the way back. Decades ago some bus promotion from Los Angeles to Vegas was targeted by two passengers who suddenly drew guns and passed a collections plate. Sensible people avoid Newark, NJ period.Quote: SanchoPanzaSimilar ignorance and arrogance afflicted the ACES Gamblers' Express train from New York to Atlantic City.

Someone should tell Harrah's about free mapping software on the internet.
There is a bus from Fair Lawn to Sands.
Cost is $20 cash, but will give $30 slot play & $5 food coupon, (probably returns early in the morning).
Might be a nice option if you don't feel like driving.
