The internet lists 16 brick and mortar casinos in Kyiv and several others in Odessa, Lviv and elsewhere in Ukraine. Obviously, they are having their worst weekend ever. This seems like a good enough excuse to express my best wishes to the people of Ukraine, whether or not they work in a casino. The Russian invasion has been a sober reminder that life is just a dice game, and sometimes unexpected things happen.

When the chips are down, they get canceled.

TV says Ukrainians are being told to tear down road signs and street signs so the invading army doesn't know which way to go. I guess after the Russians destroy the communications grid, Google Maps won't work anymore either.

It is a standard thing, Kuwait did the same in 1990.

Germans, posing as American MPs, famously changed the road signs during the Battle of the Bulge and actually stuck around to direct traffic the wrong way.
hitler had hoped to have 3,000 English-speaking nazis to send behind allied lines but ended up with only about 200. Many of the ones who were were captured were executed. Their leader was tried for war crimes but argued he was advised there was nothing wrong with wearing another uniform as long as they didn't engage in fighting in it. His lawyers put several Americans on the stand who admitted to doing similar things and his life was spared.

I'd take down "Dead End" signs, and change them to thru-ways and vice versa.

Make all the streets one way, leading out. Make sure the tankers know that traffic laws are being strictly enforced.

In reality, they probably have downloaded maps in those tanks. But it's the thought that counts, I guess.

Maybe someone will remake the film Casablanca and set it in a Ukrainian casino named Valentin's during the Russian invasion.

I am sure a mildly talented corporate lawyer could find a way to convincingly argue that nation-state level hostile invasions are well outside of TOS or AUP, and enough to warrant demonetization at the very least.

Like many hostile corporate takeovers, this one is not going so smoothly. The problem with multiple expansion attempts is you need logistics. Unmotivated drones lead by inexperienced junior management without the needed corporate support don't do much for the bottom line.

Total respect for the people of Ukraine, and their leader. Ordinary citizens fighting, it's David vs Goliath. The whole world is rooting for them.
