Then I showed the fourteen grand and asked the cashier if she could scan the chips and figure out who I am. She assumed I wanted to cash them and kept asking for my Player Card. I said, but, don't you know who I am from the chips themselves? To summarize, whatever player identity tracking is attached to the chips does not extend to after you have walked away from the table, at least not including by the time of arrival at the cage.
Though I tend to think that’s unlikely.
At Resorts World, and at other Vegas resorts we have stayed at, the maids often seem aggressive about "What time would you like housekeeping, Sir?" if I run into them in the hall and they recognize me as the guy who has been in that suite forever, or I forget to leave the Do Not Disturb Up/On and they ring the doorbell / knock and I open the door. And if I don't like letting the maids in, my wife dislikes it even more.
I never gave it much thought as to why these maids are so aggressive about wanting to come in and clean the room until the other day when I opened the door while waiting for room service, and the maid said something about how "it helps" her if she gets to clean the suite. The way she said it, it made me think that she gets paid for each room she cleans. And maybe she gets paid more for cleaning a huge room. Does anyone know if this is the case? at any of the casino resorts?
Not sure if that includes incomplete rooms or what is available.
Nice Resort in general.
But….
No strip presence or draw, IMO
Long walk from parking garage
The empty lot makes it a hike from Fashion Show mall
It’s grandiose
Hearing so so on restaurants. Many understaffed and poorly trained.
You can get a pass with cheap restaurants, no one wants crappy service when the steaks are $100.
They should have brought in the Pandas. There’s your draw.
Seems it is suffering same fate as Virgin. Big show opening and then thud.
I think it's more the combination of the other things mentioned in this thread - high prices, poor service, lack of identity.
I am sure it is busier than Virgin Vegas though - but probably not busy enough to cover that massive Resorts World overhead. Already signs of strain - my wife heard that they had dropped the prices on Tiesto tickets for those not able to get them comp'ed.
Quote: MDawgI stopped playing almost two weeks ago just been bumming around Vegas since. First this was to get over the cold I caught, and now it's just because I don't feel like playing anymore want to go home with locked in profits. Yes, I walked through RW high limit Baccarat twice this week (weekdays) and the entire salon was flat empty both times.
MD: Did you by any chance check out shorty, the smallish high limit craps table? Just wondering about minimum bet. TIA
I do recall also that the double deck blackjack table was closed in high limit every time I walked through - shoe games only.
The parking structure elevators now finally have a sticker on them indicating that the 1st floor is CASINO. No marking whatsoever before.

Both the craps table and the double deck blackjack in Crockfords high limit according to the pit boss to whom I spoke are by request only - not necessarily reserved but open only by request made to your host. The craps table in high limit may have a 100 minimum, or maybe a 500 the pit boss wasn't sure. The odds are standard 3-4-5X.
The double deck (when open) seems to be similar to the DD at the average Strip casino (high limit), 0.4 house edge (h17, ds), although since I did not play it, this was based on the rules a pit boss laid down to me.
I don't play slots and I am in a much bigger (Blackjack) tournament at RWorld but I entered this little slots one too.
If you haven't seen Behind the Candelabra with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, you should. Had Debbie Reynolds in it too. Actually a very well done biographical movie.
Still not sure if I want to try it out cause it’s just so far north from the places I usually like to gamble.
Anyone know if their spa is open yet?
Did they send you a personal invitation or did you just ask?Quote: ams288They matched my MLife offer and offered me four free nights in a standard Hilton room with no resort fee.

Pretty much everyone who signed up for a players card got an email that said “Discounted nights! OR we’ll match a competing strip property’s offer!”
But if you didn’t sign up and get the email they won’t do it. Or so people have said on VMB.
Gotta have a car in this land of milk and honey.
Resorts World art in The Kitchen.
Place seems like an afterthought.
Weekends, some action, but mostly droves of club goers.
When you keep winning and they start talking about how you are "overcomped" ("but don't worry - we still got you") you know that the property is hurtin' for certain! Will RW survive? or is it another Vegas bankruptcy in the works? But, considering that they are owned by Genting and Genting is able to carry the loss against profits at its other properties, I'd say that a sale versus any kind of going under would be more likely, if anything does happen.
Quote: MDawgResorts World seems to be feeling the pinch. Lately, especially on weekdays - Crockford's high limit areas - practically Empty.

Gentling had to restructure RW Catskills. Lot of chatter it was going to file to bankruptcy.
it's 3 casinos in md and pa seem to be doing fineQuote: unJonQuote: MDawgResorts World seems to be feeling the pinch. Lately, especially on weekdays - Crockford's high limit areas - practically Empty.

RW was definitely hurting during the summer when the temps were scorching and no one wanted to walk past that empty former Frontier lot to get to the property, but they were claiming that foot traffic was improving once the weather cooled.
Still, I mean, how many people walk from the center of the Strip to Mandalay Bay? probably not many but Mandalay Bay seems to be doing okay as far as I know.
Quote: MDawgStill, I mean, how many people walk from the center of the Strip to Mandalay Bay? probably not many but Mandalay Bay seems to be doing okay as far as I know.
I assume the fact that Mandalay Bay is pretty much adjacent to Allegiant Stadium has something to do with any recent success.
Also, is the tram from Mandalay Bay to Excalibur running? If it is, then "walking to Mandalay Bay" isn't all that necessary - and that doesn't even take the Deuce buses into account, although if you've ever seen those things at night, there are times when walking might be faster.
But then more recently I've done about the same thing (taken a cab to a casino and then walked back) and won BIG, so I guess win or lose may put you in a state of mind to want to just walk. But the walk back from a win is much more fun than the walk back from a loss.
A friend of mine once walked all the way from downtown to the Sahara and back. Wasn't even playing, just wanted to do it.
As far as these trams and such, there are trams that will take you from parts of the Strip to other parts of the Strip but they don't really seem to help that much in the scheme of things when you consider all the extra walking you have to do going in and out of the casinos versus just keepin' on truckin' down the sidewalk.
I’m not surprised. RW Catskills is the closest casino to my home. Prior was Sands Bethlehem.Quote: unJonGentling had to restructure RW Catskills. Lot of chatter it was going to file to bankruptcy.

While it was still being built, I knew RW would struggle simply by comparing a satellite view of it to Sands.
RW is surrounded by forests. Trees for miles around, plus one highway passing through. Sands is surrounded by a city. And another city.
But they do still have Katy Perry!
Multiple Alice in Wonderland displays.

So much of modern design is based on straight lines and curves and the shunning of any coherent decorative themes expressed in details. I find it rather dystopian. It's also lazy. Compare the original Treasure Island skull sign and all the work that went into it with the current, lifeless 'ti' sign which is supposedly sleek and hip but in reality is so generic it could represent any business that happened to have those letters.

I think the thought was a Catskill casino would do a lot of bus traffic from NY, as it is a shorter run than AC or Foxwoods. That model seems outdated. I was an early investor in the Monticello Racino and lost quite a bit of the investment.
Quote: JackSpadeI hate the carpet pattern. Loud casino carpets should convey extravagance, excess, fun and whimsy. This one is just loud. Sharp angles on the floor and squares on the ceiling combine to give a cold, harsh feel to the place.

I was just going to comment that I like that carpet. I generally dislike casino carpets. I was once asked if we should replace a particular casinos carpet. I said yes but was overruled.
I always assumed it was a dump so never stepped inside.
Quote: MDawgIs this "World Bet" at craps something that is found at other casinos too?

It's at every casino. It's a standard bet.
