Hi all,

New to the sight and wanted to post my opinions on the table games at Dover Downs.
First impression is overall very good. I was pleased to see a number of dealers have come over from Atlantic City so there seems to be much less of a learning curve (compared to what I saw at Harrington or Charlestown)
The pit bosses also I encountered were from there and ALL were very nice and seemed to be player friendly. There did not seem to be much heat from then either. They seemed to actually want customers unlike the attitude in A/C as of late.

The games I played were std. Blackjack and Spanish 21

The blackjack I saw was 6d,stand on soft 17, DAS, split A's once, and double any first two. The table also had in between side bet.

I was there on Thursday afternoon and the minimums were 10 and 15, with one table even dropping to 5. I was playing green so there is some worry (real or perceived) about the new players that were following hunches...Including the guy at 1st base that split his 10's... we all know where that went, dealer had 6 showing, the buffoon took a 10 and a 9 and the dealer turner 10, and drew 5. At least he lost too... LOL

The Spanish 21 was (if I rememeber correctly) stand on soft 17, and table minimums were 10.

All in all, I was very impressed for a 2-3 week old casino. I so not know if comps were adding up well or not, but was quite impressed with most of the personnel I encountered (even pit bosses)

Welcome to the site...fun place to hang out.

Just curious, why were you worried about how others were playing (even if playing bad)? Just superstition or do you really think it impacts your results?

Hi ruascott,

I know that the odds are not really affected by "bad" play it still makes for (at least for me) a more frustrating time at the table. So I guess it is superstition, but it just is not as relaxing for me.

Thanks for the welcome!

I always get a kick out of it when people get upset with novice players at the blackjack table. When they get up and leave I'll always make a comment to the "offender" and the dealer about the sillyness of it. That said, I totally understand the superstition of gamblers, not just at BJ, but at any game. Therefore I'll never say anything to the upset player (unless their insults are directed at me) :-)

This guy did a little statistical analysis on it:
