I've never gambled in Colorado, but I would imagine there are lots of high rollers there.

Why would you think that? I would think the opposite.
I too have never played in Colorado, nor do I keep up with conditions there (which I should), but I know that it used to be they had very low table maximums, set by the state. $100 maximum bets on table games. That's not going to attract the high rollers. But, maybe things have changed.

You're thinking this...
Pretty sure he meant this...
It's funny, I used to be a huge stoner back in HS, even into my mid 20's, including the early part of my BJ career (never together though). Now only a handful of years removed from all that, it isn't something I even think about any more, as obvious by my comments here. Lol. Maybe a direct result of losing too many brain cells. :0
Cripple Creek is about 1-1/2 to 2 hours from Breckenridge over Hoosier pass and 2 hours plus from Monarch. Remember, we're talking mostly 2 lane mountain roads at the darkest time of the year.
As far as the gambling goes, the max single bet is $100. So I've seen Craps shooters with 7-800 dollars out on the table for a single roll of the dice. I'm no help at all on BJ rules but I'd imagine you could play more than one spot.
No high rollers to speak of, basically dead during the week. Have fun skiing.
Come on Buzz. High rollers? Get it? HIGH rollers?
There's really not much to see. I like Ameristar in Blackhawk - it's the biggest and nicest, in my opinion. I also like Johnny Z's in Central City, thanks to teddys' suggestion. But, Johnny Z's has almost no table games - 3CP, blackjack, craps, and maybe one other. I'm pretty sure Roulette is an electronic game. Johnny Z's also opened up Z Casino in Blackhawk, but I haven't been there.
I think the $100 table max still applies - that wont bother me in craps at all and will only slow me down in BJ if I get on a roll.
Quote: ahiromuQuestion: How do these maximums work with games that allow multiple bets such as craps and roulette? Is it $100 on the table or $100 for each individual bet?
From my understanding its individual bet - you can still end up with several hundred $$ on the craps table at one time.
Quote: PeteMCorrect. I've stood next to a wild little Asian guy running $592 across, as well as $25 Hardways.
Most tables set limits on the maximum pay per individual bet per player.
By taking multiple bets and getting friends to also make bets, you can usually go outside the casino's comfort zone for a $300 or $500 max if that is your goal to do so.
Doing so can be quite entertaining. Just don't be surprised if they short you. Betting too close to the max at any casino is probably a bad idea if you don't want to get cheated by a casino that's sweating the money.
I've heard its in sleepy little mountain towns that went from five dollar to one hundred dollar bets but still have things like 6:5 blackjack and dealers who shuffle at the rumor of a counter.Quote: NostronI have finally relented and gonna take the family skiing over Christmas - but I will need a break from the snow - anybody got any good advice for the gambling scene?
Quote: BuzzardColorado was $5 max bet for 20 years, until 2011.

It's not a "table max." It's per each individual bet.
If you carpet-bombed the felt with blacks, how much would be at risk? Every place bet, every buy bet, every lay bet, every hop, every prop, field, everything? I don't know, because I'm not patient enough to sum the total... and not all craps felts have identical bets. But it would be in the many thousands.
