used to be that their comp $ could be used for either slot play or food. (600 points = $1)
now I get this mailing that set off my BS radar. its starts off with:

"You asked, We've listened!

in addition to the points accumulated, you can now have the opportunity to searn Self-Comp dollars based on the game you play. These comps can be redeemed for food or casino retail store (ie: gift shop).

The choice is yours- simply present your card and enjoy your rewards."

sounds to me they're doing a downgrade but doing it because we, the players, want it.
what bs. if not, then why complicate things by separating food and slotplay comps?

like when OJ went from 64 oz to 59oz but kept the price the same.
one of the oj companies said "you asked for an easier to carry carton, and we listened."

so how do other casinos do separate food and slot play accts?

"self-comp" seems like an odd expression
the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!”   She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder

I think also because poker play was comped as 600 pts/hr they realized many people hit their top tier with not much play. 2+2 poker board says now that instead of 33.33 hrs to get the first tier, you'll have to play 100 hrs for the same level. I agree, though self-comp sounds almost as good as total rewards - let's use what you have and call it your comp for the day!

This is exactly what MGM does. You get equal amounts of express comps and freeplay for playing slots and VP. For table games you get the express comps but not the freeplay.

I actually like the express comp system. If I want to grab a coffee from starbucks, it's nice to just use my players card as a credit card and get the coffee.

if md live gives you 'free' self-comps w/o reducing freeplay, then im all for it.
if they reduce the freeplay to fund the self-comps, then im against it. I don't eat there

If they would allow comps to be used at Bobby Flay's Burger palace, or Cheesecake factory, I'd be all for it, but the other food absolutely sucks there.

here are some reviews of the eateries. Seems I'm not alone in that opinion.

I mean seriously, I doubt I've ever seen so many 1-star reviews for food in one building. I'm surprised they don't do fast food in there. People would then at least expect a mediocre experience.

yeah, but freeplay's only for the slots now.

I am trying to decipher the thing as well. Self-comps are shown to be given the gold 25% bump but there's no freeplay Gold bump shown in the literature.

As of last week, I've still been able to use free play in the video poker machines, which are usually a better bet than the slots, even with their crappy VP paytables.

" "You asked, We've listened! " I love it. LOL

I used to be paid for focus groups in Denver. All sorts of business and products, even jury selection. Bet never a casino or racetrack.
Used to get asked about products, hours, etc when shopping in store in the past. Now get all sort of emails.

But had anyone ever been asked in a poker room to fill out a survey on what games you want dealt? Or a tournament structure ?

Ever had anyone in a casino ask you what style machines you prefer ? Been asked what limit and type table games you prefer ?

Casino go thru 2 phases. Open the doors and let the suckers in ! Followed by Now we have to at least make them think we love them.

Maryland live is entering phase 2 as the Baltimore casino will open this summer. ML will drop 16-25% by their own figures. Anybody's
guess as to how much farther Charlestown will drop.
Shed not for her the bitter tear Nor give the heart to vain regret Tis but the casket that lies here, The gem that filled it Sparkles yet
