While I am a fairly regular participant in the discussions here at WoV and have asked a few questions long ago at WoO, I have never joined the membership at the Las Vegas Advisor or submitted questions for their QoD. There, I am just a reader.

That changed on Tuesday 10/24. Their QoD for that date asked, "Other than Las Vegas, what other towns in Nevada have casino gambling?" There was a rather detailed answer about casino towns around the state. Sorry to be so late pointing this out here, since only LVA members have access to their archives. I did save a copy of that QoD answer, but it may not be appropriate to re-post it here. For those of you who see this post right away, the LVA Q&A should still be up for at least a couple more hours -- I don't know when they make the change.

Anyway, one point in the answer seemed to me to possibly be in error. I had my hint from this post from DJTeddyBear in the Casino Chip of the Day thread back in March 2012. With that lead, I had learned from Wikipedia a year and a half ago about the little town of Panaca, NV -- founded by Mormons and prohibiting both alcohol and gambling.

However, the LVA QoD answer included Panaca in a group of towns where, allegedly, they "have at least one bar with some bartop video poker and slot machines, though no bona fide casino." That seemed to be in conflict with the report from the ever-reliable Wikipedia, so I submitted my first-ever question to LVA, asking them for the "real" story.

They now have indicated that the next QoD (10/25) will address my question plus one submitted by another reader. At least I can give a timely heads-up here for the LVA follow-up QoD.

You called Anthony Curtis' crew on the carpet? Good for you.

Looking forward to that next QOD....

Good information on Nevada casinos can be had by reading posts from contributors such as LoneStar, Voodoo, Westie, Fishhead, and Jatki99.

Solely for Las Vegas based casinos, Fishhead is probably one's best choice.
