News from yesterday's Jersey Journal. NJ Lawmakers are, apparently, seriously considing adding gaming to the Meadowlands.

I added a comment:

Does anyone else find it ironic that the stock photo of the Meadowlands, has a focal point of the dead Zanadu project?

Sigh. Yeah, I wish I hadn't misspelled Xanadu.

FYI: Xanadu was supposed to be the savior to the Meadowlands. It's an indoor ski slope with retail and entertainment center. Wikipedia Article

Construction started in 2004 with opening expected in 2006. Currently, it's nothing but an eye-sore. The color scheme makes it look like a rusted, abandoned project, which, it kinda is. They hope to have it open before the 2013 Superbowl plays at the stadium next door.

Here's the photo used in the article:

Xanadu is the black/blue/orange complex in the foreground. The white building on the right is the Izod Center, former home to the Nets and Devils. The stadium to the left is MetLife Staduim, home to the Giants, Jets and 2013 Superbowl. The Meadowlands Racetrack is to the right/rear of the stadium.
I invented a few casino games. Info: http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com/ ————————————————————————————————————— Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁

Yonkers has KILLED the Meadowlands with its slots..... Jeff Gural ( money man) has taken over THE BIG M and his type don't invest MILLIONS into projects that are biased against them...... as in they might have known in advance the chance of this happening there was in their favor

Will AC casinos let this happen? Will NJ say we need that money here in NJ not PENN STATE or NEW YORK......its money not making it to the Jersey Shores anyway you look at it

THE BIG M once the heart beat of Harness Racing ( oh the many trips I made to that place from Ontario for the BIG RACE days) now a patient waiting a heart transplant

The same can be said for Pimlico race tacks. And Mile High Kennel Club used to draw crowds of 25,000 + for the Timberline Stakes.
It closed last year. Makes one wonder if on-line casinos, when legalized, will affect Brick and Mortar the same way ?
