This car is quicker, 0-60, than a 2006 Bugatti Veyron, at about 1/10th the price.

Very meh. Not the car, of course, but claims of "Bugatti Killer"? Please.

Bugatti is leaps and bounds over this Datsun, so it's unfair to compare them. The tech, the materials, the engineering, the top speed...I think the name Bugatti was used as an attention grab. And I thought I remember Bugatti's time being sub 2.5? Perhaps a different year, but by memory I think that GT-R is running about 4th or 5th in fastest 0-60 for production cars.

That being said, it's a cool car, and price being no option, I'd pick it over a Bugatti. But then again, there's a long line of cars I'd pick before a restricted 4wd Datsun. (I assume this special car has the features of the production).

Hell, a Caterham R500 does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, AND that thing has a puny 2.0ltr, AND you can build one yourself, AND it'll cost you less than $50k. Oh yeah, AND it turns left and tight. I find that more impressive than either of the 2 cars above.

Bugatti's time is just about there, but it's not a time easily repeatable in practice.

Anyway, if you want a really fast car, all be damned, you want something from rallying, group B or C especially. Nothing quite like some of these twincharged beauties... and while they would too take 2 seconds to do 0-60, they'd run like that all the time, on dirt and gravel, flying over hillsides and holes in the road, twisting and turning between the trees, taking on routes not every SUV would finish.

I wondered where you had gone, P, and I thought to myself "if he's still around, this thread will get a comment". =)

But I'd forsake wild numbers for a Stratos or an Escort Cosworth, if we're speaking rally. Soul > performance everytime in my book. Same as I'd have a Caterham over a Veyron, unless I could sell the Veyron and buy 20 Caterhams.

Well, I've been around... in the way which involves being anywhere but around.
Actually was a gaming-related math problem I can't seem to solve that brought me back to the boards.

Speaking of soul>performance though Caterham wouldn't be on top of my list. It's basically a new built Lotus 7 style car, and loses out to the original in that respect. There's a lot of great forgotten cars.
Out of supercars, my choice for looks would be Vector W8. It's like what Lamborghini kept going for all the time, but never quite got their balls together to get there. And it reached 240mph, no small feat for a car predating Veyron by two decades. They even run pretty well from what I hear, so that's one exotic I couldn't say "no" to even in the fantasy world where everything's up for grabs.

In 2007, the SSC Ultimate Aero went faster than a Veyron.

SSCUltimateAero

Interesting car, and manufactured in Washington state.
